While they didn’t speak English, this is great because I wanted the non-westernised experiment. The onsen within the hotel is pretty simple, but having it within the hotel is priceless. The location to the slopes is ideal. I used a ski locker at the resort too FYI for skiers/boarders

The owner was very nice and kind. I loved the sento (hot spring) downstairs! If you pay 300円, you can use it with free shampoo and towel. If I visit Otaru again, I will definitely stay here again!:)

Spend my first days in Japan at Yurakusoan, and what a stay it was! It was amazing to experience traditional japanese lodging and cuisine at the same time, and also the onsen baths! The staff were very friendly, The shuttle bus service was very convenient, bringing you smoothly back and worth to Sapporo station.

Such special attention from lovely staff. A real treat for me being the only foreigner. I tried all the food. Fantastic!! Easy to book dinner and brekky and private onsens if you just ask staff and keep asking. Amazing property. Felt so rejuvenated and loved every second. Nice walking around local area in the snow abd especially seeing the gorgeous bridge in jozankei. Easy and safe for female on own. Lovely dessert cafe only 5 mins walk away at sister hotel. And another 5 mins walk to little main street shops. Loved it all.

We booked a Japanese Style tatami room and were on a high floor with a view of the fall foliage at its most beautiful. A great breakfast and dinner buffet setup, a large room, great onsen, right where you want to be in Jozankei, there is very little to complain about! The staff are very professional and are very organized. During the buffet they guide you so you know how the flow should be and the usual chaos you see is pretty much nonexistent. The onsen facility contains both indoor and outdoor pools and both were fantastic. Right behind the hotel is a beautiful mountain view that i gorgeous in the snowtime.
