We loved our time at Auberge Hidanomori. The decor is beautiful and in a lovely location in the outskirts of Takayama. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who gave us recommendations for some local walks and provided a free shuttle to/from town. We would definitely recommend booking in for dinner - the food was incredible and the best that we had during our trip to Japan. We hope that we will be back again some day - thank you!

The meals are delicious. Room is spacious and comfortable. The open-air hot spring is a plus. They even have some exhibitions for this historic old hotel.

Hotel exceptional, well located in a quiet place, relatively close from places like the Kamikochi Valley or the Shinhotaka Ropeway. The rooms are very spacious, very clean and equipped with everything you could need. Nice view on a waterfall. The Kimonos will allow you to directly go to wonderful onsens in the hotel (one outside is reserved for mixed gender and will allow you to enjoy this incredible pleasure with your partner. Very good breakfast and diner. Finally I'd like to highlight the kindness and the helpfulness of all the hotel employees,particularly one who's name is Junya Ishida. We sadly had some issues with our car, and believe me, without speaking japanese, difficult to contact the rental car company and explain the problem and what to do. Junya , employee in this hotel, proposed to help us and spent almost 3 hours to contact the rental company, the road assistance,etc... and expose them the situation. Thanks again to him and all the employees of the Okuhida Garden Hotel.

The room was spacious and the atmosphere was relaxing. Breakfast and Kaiseki dinner were absolutely amazing and hearthy, with many local products and a different menu for our second day.

The owner was very nice. We tried the Japanese diner and breakfast and we got to try new foods, very interesting! We really liked the spaceous room and the shuttlebus that picked us up at the station. We also enjoyed the window view and the (private) onsen
