Nestled amongst peaceful native bushland, Kaka Retreat Motel, Stewart Island offers spacious modern suites with kitchenette, flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Free transfers to and from the airport and ferry terminal are available. True southern hospitality shown to us! Our bags were collected at the ferry and taken to our unit so we could get to our tour on time. Kaka Retreat was wonderful and we even had a Kaka land a arms length from us at the unit.

A stovetop and kitchenware are also offered, as well as a kettle. At the apartment complex, units are fitted with bed linen and towels. The complementary car rental was great for getting around! The location js quite nice, lots of kakas in the area. The bed was comfortable and the room was nice and clean.

It gave us so much convenience to tour around the island. Definitely a highly recommended place. The owner even purposely headed down to the unit to clean up for us despite the shortage of cleaner during new year period. Thanks a lot!!

Unique experience all around & all together-being one with nature-the design of the glass cabin. Perfect temperature, layout, design, bedding. WE LOVED IT! No Kiwi SEEN by the cabin area but a walk down the main road resulted in a sighting! The STARS above you & it’s no dream.
