This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. The bed and breakfast features family rooms. It was one of the most memorable stays I’ve had. The house is a traditional Swahili house, with a beautiful terrace and views, a tastefully decorated interior with all the necessary amenities and a well stacked kitchen, which is always a plus with kids. Our host Abadalla is quite simply the best host I’ve ever had - and we travel quite a bit. He was kind, thoughtful and basically carefully planned our entire stay, coordinating tours, recommending awesome local spots and day activities along the way. He took take of it all, from airport pick up, to sunset Dhow, to Lamu tour, he negotiated the prices and made the trip ultra smooth. He also served us beautiful breakfast every morning, with a large variety of fruits, Swahili pastries, omelettes, etc. He also stocked the fridge and made sure we always had drinking water for a very reasonable fee. The nicest and warmest guy, who also shared many special moments with us, and shared stories and history of Lamu as well. We would highly recommend Shela Bliss to anyone. An outstanding experience!

Umma house is a beautiful swahili-style home right in the center of Lamu old town. The architecture and interior design was just exquisite right down to the details. Justin, the house manager, is a star and made our stay very comfortable. I really recommend Umma house if you want to experience Lamu - skip Shela and head to the heart of the island - you won't regret it.

It was a huge bedroom with closet space, lots of room to put your stuff, and a large ensuite bathroom. The location was great, right on the waterfront, close to water taxis, etc. The staff were so friendly and were always there if you needed them. After check out, they called to inform us we left a few things in the room, we left them on purpose, but it was nice to get a follow-up call.
