The hotel looked very traditional and ordinary from the outside, but the bedroom was very modern, a good size with really comfortable beds and a lovely big en-suite shower room. There is a lift to the upper floors. We were welcomed warmly in Spanish as we don't speak Basque, and the lady (manager? owner?) only had a few words of English. We decided to eat at their restaurant, and were greeted by name by the chef/owner, and the waiter was excellent, very friendly and pacient, even though the restaurant was quite busy. A first for us: we could choose our own time for breakfast which was served in the bar. What a lovely experience in a lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings.

Even when we arrived in the evening, exhausted after a long day on the Camino, the hostess helped us place an order from a Chinese restaurant, and there’s also the option to buy basic groceries for cooking if you have the energy. Just keep in mind that it’s about 2 km off the trail’s starting point, so plan your route accordingly. Highly recommended!
