The hotel is in a nice location and only a short walk in to town. There is plenty of parking available. Torquay railway station is right across the road.
Whilst the hotel fits in with expectations of a period hotel in Torquay, the room that we had was a little dated in terms of decor. Our room was however, clean, tidy and comfortable.
The compass bar was nice and we had afternoon tea whilst there along with drinks in the evening. All staff were polite and professional, afternoon tea was lovely and there was a wide range of drinks available.
There was a wide range of options for breakfast including some vegetarian options on top of the usual cereal, toast, hot breakfast, fruit and pastries.

I liked the swimming pool facilities the jucazzi and the sauna, I liked the restaurant/bar at the hotel.
I liked the large shower in the room, I liked that the room had a sea view and that the reception staff were polite and welcoming.
I liked that the broadband speed is fast, in the communal area next to the Derwent hotel main reception inside,
Ping Speed 55ms
Download Speed 326.64Mbps
Upload Speed 93.35Mbps
It deals with multi usage well, when not on Level 3, it deals with bandwidth well.

The facilities are fabulous, huge comlex so enough room to accommodate a variety of ages. All staff are so efficient at their jobs, therefore, everything runs smoothly. We stayed in an apartment, which really helped make our stay cheap with buying food in and tea and coffee. I know the restaurant food is amazing though as we have stayed before. Location is perfect, quiet, but also convenient to the front where there are plenty more bars and restaurants.

Everything in the hotel was perfect and we really enjoyed our stay. John and Nicki are wonderful hosts and made us feel so welcome.
Our room was spotlessly clean and the quality of the bed and bedding made for a good night's sleep.
The hotel itself is extremely well maintained with attractive furnishings.
Breakfast was delicious!

Torquay is a faded gem. Sadly the area lost the many well-paid jobs in technology which, coupled with the loss of domestic holidays to the mediterranean resorts, cost it dear. The area is now run-down, but there are many attractions still available. It's well worth a visit (I would say that, I lived there for ten years and enjoyed it greatly), as it's a unique corner of the UK!

If you like drinking and being a general yahoo in the streets then Torquay would be the ideal location for you. Definitely don’t recommend driving your car, as you’ll need to walk miles to get to it.
Overrated, with no class to it at all.

Torquay is a lovely English seaside town, has lots of links to Agatha Christie and some great local restaurants and bars. Lots of things to do only down side is at the moment the town is under going many road works in and out so getting about can be a bit slow by car/taxi. its also very hilly so walking can be difficult if in anyway unabled.

Been to Torquay regularly down the years, but we missed last year due to other commitments. Couldn't believe the change. What has happened to the town? It is a dishevelled, shabby place. Now full of beggars, roadworks, and boarded up shops. Thoroughly depressing and I'm so sad to say that I will not be returning. It is a ghost of what it once was, the jewel in Torbay. Couldn't wait to leave..
The coastal waters Hotel was amazing value for money. The hotel was cleaned throughout, and the owner was amazing. I highly recommend staying here again when I visit torquay. My partner is fussy with Hotel, and he said he would stay again. The hotel was so quiet while we were staying here. The owner helped us make sure we found parking for our stay. He always greeted us by our names and always said morning to us. Highly recommended this hotel to anyone who is visiting torquay on hoilday or weekend away.
From the moment I step thou the door to leaving today Steve and Wendy were perfect hosts so lovely friendly nothing to much trouble.my Beautiful room was all you want spotless clean the view was Great. They had a bar which was Lovely.
The Breakfast was outstanding perfect in everyway stay for four nites and would 💯 go back in a heartbeat.Best Hotel I stay at in Torquay Wonderful stay thank you Steve and Wendy.and your lovely staff. Will be back
The hotel is located within a stone's throw of Torquay harbour. Ganesh (the manager) runs a good business, and is helpful, friendly and welcoming. Hudson's is well-maintained and clean. It's not a swish, modern hotel, but we found it comfortable, indeed we slept very well indeed. Although it's on a main road into town, we didn't find noise a problem. There's a couple of very good restaurants nearby. We liked this hotel a great deal!
Hotel was very nice, room was lovely and clea with every thing we needed and proper coffee not cheap stuff, the hotel always smelt lovely when we came in like fresh fabric softener, good location took us about 20 mins for nice stroll to torquay (but I do have bad hip) but is on direct bus route, also if you get a day rider cost £5 to travel all day to as many different places as you want, lovely pub the Kent couple minutes away
We wanted somewhere to stay for our daughter's wedding based at the Imperial Hotel in Torquay. We came across Palm Grove Apartments and struck gold! We had 3 apartments, one was a 2 bedroom, and all of them were to a very high standard and prefect for our needs. The hosts could not have done more, very friendly and great communication. We would not look elsewhere if we were to stay in Torquay for another occasion
We liked were we were as we can get the train and go every were we wanted and travel back right out side the hotel . It was nice to just walk to town and enjoy the view's plus plenty of cafes restaurant ect . The staff in hotel were so good dawn in reception was so nice friendly . And helped in every way . The rooms were so clean so we'll done to cleaning staff . We would recommend staying
Absolutely enjoyed our stay here. Room was brilliant well equipped and very comfortable and my partner really enjoyed the bath.
Owners were very friendly and very knowledgeable and helpful about the local area on where to eat and go.
If we stay in Torquay again we will definitely look if this place is available and good location, great value for money and the breakfast was excellent 10/10
The hotel is well situated for getting into the centre of Torquay. The hotel was exceptionally clean the room
Was large and spacious, good breakfast menu with a wonderful cooked full English. Family run businesses are always the best In my opinion because they care, this hotel is a real find in Torquay,
very friendly well run.
I can’t Thank you all enough for my stay.
Location is quite good, 15 mins walk to centre. Ok, the hotel is old, but it was clean. Beddings and towels are perfectly clean, the bed was very comfortable. They accept dogs. No parking or dog fee as they mentioned previously which was great. Hotel room was very big. Suitable for families. Other hotels are double priced. For couple of days, great choice.
