The inn was so beautiful and many wonderful qualities. It's location is in the middle of a lively street full of shops and restaurants and a close (though uphill) walk to a temple. The in-room amenities were wonderful: whole coffee beans, a grinder, a coffee pot and cups, a separate teapot and teacups, pajamas, robes, and any necessary toiletries. The provided breakfast and dinner was delicious, traditional Japanese fare with English menus to explain the nightly courses (though I'd still suggest having a translator app). Last, but certainly not least: the baths were incredible. I appreciate that the private baths did not need a reservation and were all themed differently. So relaxing!! All my worries melted away here.

Located in Miyoshi and only 38 km from Tsurugi-san Chairlift, Kazuraya provides accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. Each accommodation at the 2-star ryokan has quiet street views, and guests can enjoy access to a spa centre and a public bath. The ryokan offers an open-air bath and a housekeeping service. We loved everything about our stay. But if we have to single out three things it would be the unbelievably beautiful remote location of this inn with its onsen, the gourmet dinners and the kind, hospitable staff.

Yamatoya Besso was one time life experience. The Onsen and the Dinner was authentic, classic Japan style prepared and served with great care and passion.

We visited once right before COVID and we were so impressed by the atmosphere, service and food. This time was just as amazing. Staff were really friendly and we would like to thank Ms Tsubame Haruta for her help and kindness. Truly made our stay special.

Featuring beautiful nature views from its rooftop hot spring bath, Hotel Kazurabashi offers Japanese-style rooms and a dining room where food is prepared in the hearth at the guest's table. For more relaxation, it has a sauna and a games room, while massages can be arranged. We had the room with the onsen on the terrace, which was wonderful. Both the Japanese dinner and breakfast were also absolutely amazing.

Guests can choose to stay in rooms with Western beds or Japanese futon bedding. The elegant rooms at Kadan Kotohira come with tatami-mat flooring and sliding paper screens. Amenities include an LCD TV, a DVD player and a fridge. Guests can choose to stay in Japanese-style houses, where Ogai Mori wrote his famous novel. We were extremely fortunate to stay in the Choseiden cottage. The very generous layout and views over the garden towards the faraway mountains, the scrolls, the paintings, the wooden furniture of this once tea house, not too forget the private bath (“Onsen”) with its glass panel onto the forest were exquisite. The staff were most helpful and kind. Very warm thoughts go to Reina who brought us our meals and guided us through the intricacies of the local cuisine, while answering with a joyful warmth our relentless barrage of questions about Japanese culture and herself. A stay which will linger!

At the ryokan, every unit includes a tatami and a flat-screen TV. At the ryokan, the units are fitted with bed linen and towels. Staff exceptionally helpful with travel by rope way and bus about stops and time. Also about restaurants and local Lawsons which is .5 K walk. Excellent breakfast. Nice onsen with additional cold tub great for hot weather.
