From your room, you can admire a lovely view of the city, surrounded by the peaceful mountain where the ryokan rests, and even enjoy the charming cable car ride that takes you up the hillside.

The nearest airport is Osaka Itami Airport, 39 km from the property. All staff are very tentative, friendly, and so welcoming. The property is situated close to the park within a walking distance and up on the hill, so you get a good view of a sunset. The food was beautifully plated, all the dishes taste very good and you can tell that it’s from attention to details.

Basic Japanese-style rooms overlook the temple compound, and feature a tatami (woven mat) floor, on which traditional futon bedding is spread to sleep in. They are fitted with air conditioning and a safe. We stayed one night and enjoyed it very much: delicious dinner and breakfast (Japanese style sets), traditional Japanese-style rooms, lovely onsen, and of course the ceremony in the morning. Would definitely recommend going here if a temple stay is on the bucket list. After dinner (and in the morning), one can wander around the temple area, which is very nice because no other people except the guests staying overnight are around.

Staff was so courteous and so nice! We appreciate their hospitality and so helpful.

We were able to walk to all the important places in Nara. The restaurant staff and everybody else were very helpful.

Tsukihitei is located in the Kasugayama Primeval Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Each guest room has a Japanese-style decor and offer panoramic forest views, traditional tatami (woven-straw) floors, and shoji paper screens. Every aspect of our stay at Tsukihitei was special. The staff were incredibly attentive, the extraordinary food and the location stunning.

It is set 20 km from Iwafune Shrine and provides a lift. There is a terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. BEST place to stay in Nara. Great service, beautiful rooms and an incredible onsen (with the option to reserve a private one). Totally recommended!
