The hotel is exceptional, we booked the traditional Japanese room, with tatami floor and breakfast and dinner. The onsen/hot baths were very pleasant (we only used the ones on the top floor), and even booked the private onsen at a fee, so we can enjoy privately as well. The dinner was amazing, and definitely a highlight of our trip.

The staff were all exceptionally friendly and attentive - everyone from the shuttle bus driver and receptionists to the restaurant staff. Mount Fuji is visible from the rooms and also from the nice little onsen on the top floor. The shuttle bus service is very convenient to and from Kawaguchiko station. Both the dinner and breakfast were great and plentiful. The view gets a bit better as you go further along the lakeshore away from Kawaguchiko station, but we found Hotel Asafuji to be good value for money and the wonderful service made it a very pleasant stay.

You basically have a house to yourself. There is a private onsen with Fuji views. The views of Fuji in my living room and dining room are crazy too — amazing!! Also, everything is very well thought-out!! Omakase dinner and breakfast are chef’s kiss ✨ Staff is super helpful — they even helped map out my route from the ryokan to Osaka. The floors are heated — the water is never cold (I went in winter). You even have a little garden to yourself with a table and chairs outside so you can look at Fuji while drinking tea. But I would recommend that in Spring lol as it’s super cold in winter outside.

The owner is incredibly warm and attentive, personally welcoming guests and taking great care of every detail. The highlight of this hotel is the scenery— from the lobby, restaurant, and the room balcony, everywhere in this hotel, you can enjoy a full, unobstructed view of Mount Fuji, with beautiful lake and mountain surroundings that feel truly peaceful. I have visited Mount Fuji many times, and this is by far the best view I’ve experienced. This time I traveled with my parents, and it was their first visit to Mount Fuji—having such a memorable and perfect experience meant a lot to us.

We stayed in a traditional japanese room with the view on the mountain and it was really perfect. The photos are not able to show how authentic and beautiful the room is, the Fuji-view at sunrise and sunset are magnificent! But most of all, the personnel of the ryokan is the best and most welcoming we have ever encountered, thank you for this wonderful experience! We were met from and brought back to the train station, shown a lot of kindness and personal attention. In the morning we got a traditional japanese breakfast, that was a new and tasty experience in itself. The ryokan provides everything you can possibly need, including the yukatas for their private Onsen. It opens early in the morning and closes late in the evening, so we were able to visit it twice. Can only recommend!
