The location/setting, the staff/service, the rooms with private onsen and the food. First of all Takachiho gorge is beautiful but this takes the experience to another level with the level of service and F&B provided. Its a pity we only stayed 1 day.

We had a delightful experience during our recent stay at Nagahigawa. We opted for the half board and were thoroughly impressed by the authentic Japanese dinner and breakfast. The meals were a true culinary delight, and we savored every bite. The staff at the hotel were exceptionally warm and welcoming, making our stay even more enjoyable. Their kindness and attentiveness did not go unnoticed, and we truly appreciated their efforts. One of the highlights of our stay was the open-air private onsen. It was an amazing experience that added a touch of serenity and relaxation to our trip. We couldn't have asked for a better way to unwind.

The ryokan features family rooms. The property is traditional, from room to restaurant. And we liked most is the public onsen bath, nice koi ponds and could get a good sleep after onsen. Plus the Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were fabulous.
