Mount Aso is 7.3 km away and KK Wings is 33 km from the ryokan. Everything was wonderful! The staff was very pleasant and attentive, the food was a feast (quite literally) and the atmosphere was just what we were looking for in a ryokan. Private or public onsen on site was relaxing and peaceful. Just a brief walk from Aso station and a car rental so you can see the local sights, but far enough from the bigger roads that there was no noise. Highly recommended!

Outstanding environment and staffing!!!

The ryokan serves Japanese seasonal dishes at its dining room, which features an open kitchen. Teahouse Warabe offers self-service coffee. A variety of Japanese shochu liquor, wines and other drinks can be enjoyed at bar Kura. A truly nice ryokan stay - several rooms/houses, hidden among the trees, many options for bathing - two M/F outdoor onsens, and several private baths. We did not use the indoor onsen. Breakfast and dinner are worth themselves the stay, as they are really "rich", both in variety of the food and the colors :) Room was simple and elegant, more than big enough for two. The staff was very professional, polite and helpful. Hope that we visit the place again! Arrive here early, not just before the dinner, so you can enjoy the many onsen possibilities and sit down for a cup of tea among the trees.
