The location is perfect, close to the station. The hosts were so kind and attentive, we miss them already. We will definitely be back. Also airconditioning in summer was a real plus. We got to experience a shamisen performance and our host made us try natto which was very questionable but a very fun experience.

At the ryokan, all rooms include a flat-screen TV, fridge and wardrobe. Certain rooms feature in-room hot spring bath, while some rooms offer a kitchen with a microwave. Everything was just perfect. We stayed one night with breakfast, in the apartment with private onsen. Would definitely come back and stay longer. The apartment is in very convenient location- close to all the attractions. The staff and the owner are very friendly, kind and helpful. Owner spoke very good English and gave us many tips on what to do and where to go. Made us feel very welcoming. Breakfast traditional Japanese. Food was very delicious.

Opened in April 2017, Hakone Kowakien Tenyu offers Japanese-style rooms with tatami flooring, an open-air bath or ceramic open-air hot springs bath made with Shigaraki pottery. The property boasts views of Tonomine, Myojogatake and Mount Asama. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. We have visited 3 times and it always is a wonderful treat. Great baths, great breakfast, lovely room. Warm recommendation for couples.

All rooms have a private toilet and washbasin, while bathroom facilities are shared. Green tea sets with snacks are provided. A lovely little spa break. First time staying in a ryokan, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was charming, bed comfortable and the onsen was amazing. Dinner was great too. I had plans change last minute and the staff was gracious enough to help me out.

The staff are so kind and warm, we really feel at home. The breakfast is so delicious, the room is so clean. We really love the Japanese style room. We will for sure live here again if we go to Tokyo!

It offers free Wi-Fi at the lobby and a free station transfer. If I could give ten stars I would! Our stay was amazing! Everything from staff to location to food was great! You can’t beat the location within mountains next to a beautiful river! Onsen facilities were gorgeous! Staff all spoke English perfectly and were extremely thoughtful and kind! They even called me on our way there to make sure we can make it to the dinner!
