Hakone
Comfortable Accommodations: Onsen Guest House Tsutaya in Hakone offers comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, air conditioning, and mountain views. Only some rooms include a balcony, tatami floors, and free toiletries. I really liked staying here. I stayed in a bunk, which is completely enclosed, so it's more like a capsule. The onsen are fantastic, soooo relaxing at the end of the day. I have a lot of tattoos and since it was a private onsen just for guests, it wasn't an issue at all. The staff were super helpful and the location was pretty convenient. I would definitely stay here again.

Me & my husband stayed for one night in the twin room with private hot spring bath. This huge room was very beautiful and cozy, clean & well equipped with different amenities (tea, kettle, mini fridge, yukatas, large tv with a Super Nintendo etc.). Just as promised in the listing.
It was so lovely to enjoy the private onsen in our room, nobody to disturb us and no rush. The wooden tub fits two people well, even when sitting side by side. The window above the tub can be opened, the view is to a parking lot/other hotel. We had access to the hotel’s three other private onsen baths aswell and could use them whenever they were free, but we liked to stick to the one in our room.
The location is excellent, there are some convenience stores nearby & you can walk from the bus station in about 10 minutes to the hotel. There are also some restaurants nearby.
The hotel staff were very kind, welcoming and helpful.
We really enjoyed our stay in Eidaya and would definitely love to come back sometime! It was such a wonderful little escape from bustling Tokyo.

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel.
It's close to the railway station and a very nice pizzeria.
The staff was very friendly and we appreciated all the information given at reception.
When we got to our room, we were greeted by one of the staff who showed us around the room and how to put on the yukatas.
The room was superb! We could hear and see the Haya River as we bathed in our private outdoor tub. The water was soft and warm and it was the most relaxing moment I've ever had.
Hakone
Main Dining Room "The Fujiya" serves French cuisine in an elegant space. Restaurant Cascade offers Western dishes, while Kikka-so serves traditional Japanese kaiseki dinners. A bar, lounge and bakery are available. Our stay at Fujiya was exceptional. The hotel has a grand, old world charm to it in a Japanese style. There were amazing details to see in the building itself and the grounds. Service was amazing by the staff who all spoke good English. Food was wonderful and served in a very classy full service style with silverware. The gardens and koi pond were beautiful in the autumn. The onsen spa also was great after a long day's sightseeing. It was a truly memorable experience to stay here and a highlight of our trip.

This was close to the end of our two and half week Japan trip, and we had already been to many hotels and accommodations: If you are looking for ascetic Japanese inn, this is for you. You won't get much for basic fare, which for our trip was twice or thrice the normal price for a night, but if you are happy with a public bath, yukata and tatami mat with a futon on it, you are in for good times (we weren't).
It’s a little tired but authentic. Love the experience of traditional Ryokan. It’s so special when the staffs come and prepare a spread of dinner table in your tatami room and then after the dinner they turn the room into a bed room by bringing out Futon. The quality of Onsen water is fantastic. The staffs are very friendly and welcoming.
For us it was the perfect stay in a Japanese ryokan - spacious room with tatami and a low table and comfortable floor-low chairs, very comfortable (and large) futons, house yukata and jacket, relaxing onsen bath every evening … and an overwhelming variety of delicious food for dinner and breakfast, some of which was cooked on little stoves on the table. For us it was the perfect choice for a very clean ryokan with very friendly and attentive staff.
It was our first time staying at a Ryokan and it exceeded our expectations the room was traditional japanese room with tatami and at the upper level we had our futons. The onsen bath was refreshing and calming. The food was so delicous and well portioned and locally sourced. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer.
Staff were polite and helpful, are English competent. Loved the traditional dinner and breakfast and the experience of wearing yukatas everywhere, traditional Japanese public bathing facilities, the outdoor onsen after dinner where you can gaze up at the stars before falling asleep on futons in a tatami room. We had fantastic view of the mountains from our window. Quiet location.
We had such a fantastic experience during our stay at Ajisai and loved walking around in the supplied Yukatas! We really enjoyed the private onsen which we definitely made use of with our family, and the futon bed was extremely comfortable. Just note that it is a fair walk (especially if you have luggage), so best to take a taxi from Gora Station to get to the Ryokan.
I've appreciated the traditional style of the place; I wanted to experience staying one night in a ryokan. The futon, the tatami and the typical furniture of the room, everything was there. The onsen was also pleasant. My best memory is the kindness of the secund man who helped me whenever needed, the efforts he made to communicate with me to provide me with all information.
The ryokan is centrally located in Ueno and convenient for the University of Tokyo. It's a ryokan, so you get a low futon and tatami mats on the floor. They also provide you with a yukata to wear indoors. The owners are lovely, and arranged a late check-in for me without any difficulty. It is excellent value for the price.
Amazing facilities. You get to experience a lot as you get complementary yukatas and access to an amazing onsen. The rooms are very well furnished and the tatami mats and futons are a must experience
The traditional Ryokan was what we searched for and we were happy to receive the full experience with yukata's and futons. We had a personal toilet for the room (not in the room itself but we expected a shared one) And we were lucky with the onsens as we could use them both times by ourselves. The food was delicious and a good introduction to traditional Japanese food
