The service offered by the staff at Shikitei was incredible - and simply has to be experienced. This hotel is a short drive out of Morioka, and we highly recommend an afternoon trip to Lake Tazawa. On your return, you can enjoy the wonderful indoor or outdoor onsen. Plenty of information is provided, so don't worry if you have not used an onsen before. While the hotel is not new, it is kept very clean and has a charming style. The breakfast is an experience worth traveling for in itself, with many different dishes served and a card explaining the local origin of many of the ingredients. The Japanese style room was very comfortable and a highlight of our trip.

The ryokan features family rooms. The staff went above and beyond, the food was excellent, the room spacious and the onsen was as depicted: lovely. Would recommend.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The place is beautiful and great facilities. Having Onsen onsite was lovely. Providing free shuttles to and from train station and ski resort is excellent. Delicious array of dishes for the buffet. We really enjoyed the New Year’s Day firework exhibit and the fact that we could access the slopes straight from the hotel✨
