It is -+20km from Kanazawa, 5 min from train station, but I was looking for quite place on purpose. The train ride takes about 25min and 370 ¥. Very close to the sea. Extremely welcoming stuff, free bikes, little kitchen with some free snacks and coffee.

The delicious and generous breakfast was served in a cafe 2 minutes walk away. Very responsive and kind English speaking host who helped with tourist information, excellent restaurant recommendations, and booking a taxi. Highly recommended.

At the ryokan, the units are fitted with bed linen and towels. Our stay at Machi No Odoriba was simply perfect: from the moment they welcomed and checked us in to the moment we had to say goodbye. The highlight of this place is the staff. I will always remember the people I met here. They took the time to explain everything we needed to know and more about our room, the dishes we ate, the plates our food was served on and the main attractions to visit. They were always ready to answer every request and need for help. Their kindness was incomparable. But it was not just them. The room was beautiful: big and comfortable, with its own onsen. And the food was delicious: hands-down the best dinner and the best breakfast I had during my stay in Japan. Thank you for this authentic and fascinating experience!

But the quality was first rate. Every meal delicious and varied, fish,beef, pork,veggies all in a beautiful style. The hot springs were superb and the traditional Japanese tatami mat room with a view of the mountains and sound of the river was over the top. I’d go back in a flash. A relaxing place surrounded by nature and walks to temples and shrines with amazing local craft stores. Beautiful

The service was impeccable, the food authentic and incredibly amazing, healthy, and delicious. The staff beyond courteous, but that is pretty standard for Japan :). The location was lovely, the accommodations gorgeous. Everything about this place really was the quintessential Japanese experience. I wish I could be back there. Thank you for such a magical stay.

Every room is equipped with a flat-screen TV and electric kettle. Some units feature a seating area where you can relax. The rooms have a private bathroom. For guest's comfort, free toiletries are provided. Guests can sample a complimentary drink, such as locally produced beer, rice wine and twig tea. The Japanese breakfast was fantastic. The western breakfast was subpar in comparison. I would have loved to have had some homemade jam with my bread. Usually western breakfast does not need olive oil with their bread. Olive oil for dipping is more of a lunch/dinner option.

Rooms have a tatami (woven-straw) floor and low furniture. Some offer beds, while other rooms come with traditional futon bedding. All rooms are fitted with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and a fridge. Yukata robes are provided. The best breakfast and dinner of the entire trip. Unique hotel for an exceptional experience. The best of all is their staff. Not for everybody, but I will definitely be back.
