It's a wonderfully charming hotel in the middle of apparent nowhere - i.e. precisely what we were searching for. It isn't really nowhere as there's a ton of historical and natural features nearby but it is still far from the hustle and bustle. It's very peaceful. The staff were very nice and helpful without being overbearing. We were picked up at the station (Sakurai) and after our stay we were shuttled back there. The staff has varying levels of English but it didn't hinder our stay at the slightest - communication was great and they even made to sure to translate some handouts for meals into our native Polish which was a charming gesture. The meals themselves were delicious (caution: the wonderful multi-course dinner has to be ordered in advance!) and served very nicely. Yes, they are pricey but it reflects their quality. The rooms were traditional, with tatami etc and a great view on the temple on the mountainside opposite the hotel. There's also a hot bath and we loved it. If we ever get the possibility of coming back to Japan, we would love to revisit this hotel.

Fabulous Ryokan experience. Located on the edge of Nara Park (deers at the front door). Bus 77 from Nara JR takes you to Nara Kasugano Forum stop, then 15mins walk. Todai-ji 10mins walk. Staff were very professional, helpful and extremely friendly. Room 107 (Kiku) was quiet and spacious overlooking wooded area (deers). Choice of Yukata for the ladies. Exceptional dinner and breakfast (Japanese) delivered to the room by the kind staff (coffee available in reception). Bathing can be taken in the relaxing Onsen with all the usual amenities. Would highly recommend.

The host was very nice, she let us arrive early and greated us with tea, coffee and cakes. We had a lot of space to ourselves, including a japanese bath and a nice bedroom with comfy futons. Most of all, the homemade breakfasts (japanese style or occidental) were absolutely delicious and very generous. The location was quiet but close enough to walk to the park, temples and restaurants.

what a wonderful place! The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean, the food was delicious and the whole place had a peaceful ambience. You’re able to walk around and explore the whole complex in the evening which is a really unique experience and being able to attend the fire ceremony and morning prayers was simply wonderful. it felt very authentic and a privilege to be able to witness this. I would definitely return!

From the moment we arrived we loved the hotel. In the heart of Nara, only a stone's throw away from the deer park. The hotwl was clean, staff were so accommodating, and the advice they gave us on Nara was second to none. The private bath was such a lovely touch in the evening. The perfect ryokan stay.ake sure to watch sunset from the rooftop!

The staff were super friendly and helpful, at the front desk and especially at breakfast. The public baths were amazing. I had never been in one before and they had instructions on how to use, they were single sex and also we had them to ourselves which was amazing. I would highly recommend the outdoor hot bath super relaxing.

This place is old but charming and in a good location. The people who run it are friendly but no English is spoken. The onsen is actually really big and nice.

The ryokan was very close to the JR Miwa train station. The room was spacious. The room had a small toilet attached to it. The family bathroom was big and clean. The owner, Masahiro Uda San, maintained the internal garden tastefully. It was a pleasure to look at the garden through the viewing windows. Masahiro Uda San gave me very useful information about the Miwa Shrine and hiking the amanobe-no-michi Trail. It was a pleasant stay.
