This is my second time staying at Ekoin and it was excellent just like last time. The meditation and fire ceremony were beautiful. The food was good last time but this time was even better, just delicious. The staff is incredibly friendly and the shared bath is spotless and super comfortable. I cannot recommend Ekoin enough.

I had always wanted to stay in one of the temples in Koyasan, and I think I chose the right one. It was an amazing experience living amongst the monks, engaging in the morning ceremonies, and enjoying the breakfasts and dinners. I would gladly return on my next visit.

Just incredible experience!! The monks were so warming and welcoming, they really made us feel at home. The whole experience was enlightening and to learn more about their faith and take part in the morning prayers was truly a unique experience!

Shukubo Fudoin is set back from the main road but is in the centre of the village and in close walking distance to all the main sights. The rooms were immaculate and peaceful. We arrived early but the rooms were ready and our host explained the protocols clearly and with great kindness, before serving us a cup of tea and a lovely mōchi treat. The bathhouse was available for our use from late afternoon until 8pm. The meals in the evening and morning were generous, tasty and beautifully presented. The monks and their team were humble, polite and completely charming. Prayers at 6am was a great privilege to participate in. Although we were there for only one night, we left refreshed and rested.

Located in Koyasan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 高野山 宿坊 常喜院 -Koyasan Shukubo Jokiin- offers free private parking. All rooms include a flat-screen TV.

Excellent, would stay again in a heartbeat. They were fantastic with my wife’s allergies and provided delicious changes that didn’t leave her wanting during the stay. It was clean and comfortable and we loved the space. Everyone was polite and helpful regardless of language barrier and it was a really relaxing stay whilst learning about the history of Koyasan.

Everything was perfect, from the typical meals to the room, including the guided tour of the cemetry at night. It was a great experience. The Monk from Sweden was super kind and knowledgeable.
