Arima Onsen is close to Kobe, but has a nice countryside feel about it. Our room was much larger than expected, the staff were attentive and friendly, and the onsen was very good, with the famous Arima golden water (salty and with high iron content). A nice detail in the onsen was that the gender seperating wall was lower at the end, enabling a conversation with my wife. The food was also very good, we stayed 2 nights and had 1 night dinner and breakfast in our room (for an extra charge). The ryokan also offers a free shuttle to the Arima Ropeway and to the railway station. The salon was also nice with free coffee and lots of books and a high-end tube amplifier. The building is wooden and old, so expect to hear some noise from your neighbours, but nothing too bad.

The facilities are very perfect. Ie. shuttle bus from/to hotel to train station and ropeway, varieties of gold and silver onsens in one place are stunning we didn’t have to go other onsens to try both of them. The price is high, but you can expect a lot. The hotel rooms were great. You could choose if you prefer to sleep in big comfy western beds or prefered a Japanese futon instead (there were two rooms, so enough space to get the futons out). Maybe prepare a bit in advance, so that you know what´s going on, because the English introduction at reception is a bit shorter than the Japanese one, but the staff is always really helpful and can answer your questions. Breakfast and diner were both included and were fantastic. The sushi cook in the evening was so helpful and we tried 2-3 different sort of fish we never had before. And all the other dishes were great, too. Don´t forget to stop in time, so that there is still room for dessert ;o) The onsen on the roof is wonderful. You have an excellent night view and can see the beautiful harbour area. There is an onsen for women and one for men. First there is a big room where you undress and put your clothes in little baskets. Then there is a shower room followed by a pool, a whirlpool and the lovely onsen. And if you want to spend around 200 Yen extra, don´t forget to visit the room with the massage chairs. They are amazing.

The breakfast was amazing. It was delivered to my room and had little plates of different things. The private onsen reservations were so lovely and outdoor so you can see into the garden. The staff was really helpful and would drive us anywhere in the town as part of the service.

Traditional ryokan with small onsen as part of the hotel. They are private onsen, so you can go there as a couple / family. Definitely recommend to book the dinner even if it seems bit expensive. It is worth it! Best experience we had in Japan.

If I dreamt up the perfect room, this would be it! I loved : the # of wastebaskets, the controls for the lights and curtains, the toilet, the automatic closing bathroom door, the room’s small amenities, which felt very luxurious and nice, the storage closet, sauna, and hot spring/ tub/shower room- absolutely everything. Every detail of the room has been thought out. Thoughtful design, purposeful and functional layout and mechanisms, and it all looked and felt so luxurious.

Boasting outdoor hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese meals, Miyukisou Hanamusubi is a 5-minute ride from Arima Onsen Train Station on the hotel’s free shuttle.

The hot spring in room was really relaxing. Temperature was perfect. Staff are nice and polite and willing to explain all the rules.

We stayed in the hotel for one night. When we arrived, we were greeted by staff dressed in traditional Japanese dress who served as green tea and Japanese sweets. We were then escorted to our bedroom where we had a traditional Japanese room. We were then served the most unbelievable dinner in our room, which was truly amazing and the quality of the service was outstanding. Promptly after dinner, the room was cleaned and the futon was laid down and the beds were made in front of us. In the morning the beds were cleared and breakfast was served in our room which was nothing short of a banquet. We chose the western style. Food overall was exceptional. After breakfast, my wife and I made our way to the Private onsen - hot spring for one hour which was more than enough. An unbelievable experience and great value for money. I thoroughly recommend it to everybody if you’re looking for a break on a holiday to really enjoy and take in the Japanese culture.
