Ryokans in Kami

I love everything about this place! It's so cosy, traditional house with the host making us feel like home all the time. Dinner and Breakfast served was delicious! Location was near ski rental shops and the ski lift. The sento was near as well. Probably the best Ryokan I've ever stayed in rural Japan!

Incredible experience - we loved every moment of our time here. It was our first ryokan & onsen experience, and everything exceeded expectations. The hosts were attentive & helpful, the Japanese tatami room was spacious and comfortable, and it is in the premium location in the town centre. We chose to include dinner & breakfast, and both were phenomenal. Yukata and kimono were provided, and they took great photos for us. The private onsens inside the ryokan were lovely, and a great introduction before we went to the public onsens in town. Highly recommend. Thank you!!!!

Yuko was a wonderful host and made us a delicious meal. We felt very welcome and it was definitely the most connected experience we have had in Japan. It was lovely to feel like we were in a home away from home.

I could not thank the Kobayashiya team enough, especially Ms. Yang, for the hospitality and kindness during my stay, going above and far beyond expectation for solving any problems I had in Kinosaki and ensured I had a unforgettable smooth vacation here, becoming the highlight of my trip to Japan, even after staying in a few high rated ryokans in other regions. I chose this residence initially as I was able to see from their Instagram that they had worked with an L.A. company working with young adults with Autism, Aspergers, Anxiety and ADHD. Not only was the English support amazing, I would also like to support them in finding creative outlets to do more as a hotel. The photos does not show justice to how beautiful, unique and comfortable the environment is. Clean rooms without a speck of dust. Wonderful lighting for a homely feeling. An exquisite dining environment with garden views. My room also featured a wonderful view over the famed Kinosaki river, observing the lanterns light up as the evening dawns. The “public baths” are actually a highlight of the residence. They are private onsen baths designed with simplistic brilliance, each with their own semi-open air gardens. You can lock the doors so you actually have the bath to yourself. I regret not spending more time in these baths. I understand how one might prefer not sharing the same bathing area with others, but if you are in Kinosaki anyways you’ll be sharing and soaking in the most amount of public baths in your life. Yukata and getas are provided for you for the most authentic Kinosaki experience, as the elegant clangs of getas ring through the night by locals and foreigners alike. Definitely worth more than a 2 star rating, the luxuries may not be present but the service and friendliness is second to none, and gave me an experience of a lifetime. P.S. Stylish Ryokan, friendly staff and 2 shared onsen and 2 private baths. The Japanese rooms were very traditional and the food in the upstairs dining room was exquisite. Snow crab cooked in different ways featured four times in the seasonal menu. I would highly recommend this place.

Oh my goodness, Yuraku was all we ever hoped for and more. Having lived in Japan before, I kind of expected all the pleasures of a ryokan but this property exceeded everything. The room was lovely with a stunning view into the Japanese garden build into a tree lined hillside. The ryokan has a traditional feel to it with lovely wooden structures, tasteful but not overbearing decorations and private and public baths which guests could use in addition to free entry to the towns public hot spring bath houses for which it is famous. The food was fantastic. We had Japanese breakfast on both days of our stay and dinner on one evening. In addition, the service and facilities were great and the staff was wonderful - friendly and discreet. I will recommend this place to all friends who travel to the Kyoto area as an antidote to the hassle and bustle of big city life. Beware that the town itself is quite touristy and can be crowded at times. But as soon as you enter Yuraku ryokan, which is slightly set back from the main streets, you will find yourself in a haven of peace. Strongly recommended!
