Very comfortable traditional ryokan with private onsen bath. Loved the private onsen downstairs too. Staff were very friendly and helpful, with one being able to speak to us in Chinese. Loved the complimentary beer in the lobby too!

Super authentic ryokan, in the middle of the old city, with all the public onsens. The host is very friendly and cool, gives maps, coupons and useful recomendations. Rooms arer spacious and clean. Small cute onsen, where you can go privately owner also sets up a parking a minute walk from the Ryokan. When we will be back to beppu- definately will stay there again.

Great ryokan experience with delicious well-selected food. Very friendly and welcoming staff. We only regret that we happened to be in Beppu for only one night and it was the night of fire festival. Unfortunately, we missed the whole thing, because we had a dinner at the time of fire show. It’s just an another reason to visit Beppu again :)

Our stay at Kannawaen was such a uniqe experience. We booked the room "Take", and it was so worth it having our own pool and other baths. Booked it with dinner and breakfast, and the dinner was one of the best we had on our trip to Japan. It was worth the splurge! Would come back again. We also got a present of two bottles of fine wine for free when we checked out. The hotel is also right beside the Beppu Hells.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel , huge lobby, and room, friendly front desk staff who are able to communicate in English assisting us re room reservation issue due to unexpected health issue. Really appreciated. Dinner was the highlight with sashimi, wagu beef, hot pot with lots of seafood, countless little dishes of appetizers and finally the smooth custard.
