The kaiseki dinners and breakfasts were clearly the highlight of the stay. The setting is beautiful, looking down over a rushing mountain river. The staff were attentive and seemed to be genuinely sweet and caring people.

Lovely Japanese style room, comfortable, clean and in a fantastic location! Staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. Loved the public bath also, very relaxing with great amenities. Remember to check restaurants for bookings and closing times as this is a heritage location where things close early.
Absolutely gorgeous host who made us a delicious and filling breakfast every morning - felt like we were family ! House is lovely and clean and very close to the station !
This is a beautiful place to stay. I recommend getting the breakfast, it's simple but fresh and delicious. The staff were all very kind and helpful. Rooms are lovely and location next to the river makes it very relaxing. We had two children with us so ended up getting a taxi back to the station, it was a little tricky to get there with bags and kids but totally worth it!
The accommodation was immaculate. We liked that we could prepare a meal in the kitchen and relax in the living area. Our room was just right and there was enough space for our luggage. Yoshi the host is a lovely person and gave great tips for sightseeing and restaurants, he also speaks excellent English.
The people who own the place are lovely. They let us check in late, they put out free coffee, tea and lemonade and when we left they even drove us to the train station! Room was large and very comfortable, living room area to relax and tables to eat your food. Feels like you're at home!
This was a gem of a hostel! A beautiful place to relax after a busy few days in Tokyo. The lounge area is lovely, overlooking the trees and with hammocks on the deck outside which was a great place to read a book with a beer. The onsen was so relaxing - there was one indoor pool and one outdoor pool (which feels like it’s in the woods!) so it wasn’t massive but it didn’t get busy while I was there. It was such a cool experience to be in the outdoor onsen at night too.
The location by the river was lovely and convenient. And despite the tight space, everything was available. The hosts were very relaxed and accommodating.
Very nice onsen inside hotel…try it twice altough we only stay for one night Lovely and delicious breakfast Owner is very attentive…he greeted us when we miss the hotel and let us sit near the heater in the cold night and help us to bring the luggages by himself Upgrade the room with a great room with massage chair inside the room…it is so wonderful Amazing lake view…. Also near wonderful kegon waterfall and shrine
The hostel was in a really lovely location and easily accessible with the car. The staff were very accommodating for our late arrival and were also very friendly, offering recommendations for what to do in the area when we were out exploring. I could go on and on about how well-maintained the hostel is and how nice it was to come back to after a long day of exploring, especially to soak in the onsen and then relax in the lounge area!
