Kumobaike Pond can be reached via an 8-minute car ride. All the staff was very friendly and welcoming. They always offered help whenever needed.

Free WiFi is available throughout the entire property. The staff was very nice and we had very interesting conversations. They give very good advice on the area and the Onsen. The place is spotless clean, beautiful and very quiet and comfortable. For a fee, you have access to Onsen in neighboring hotels. The town of Yudanaka is also very nice. The hotel is very close to the train station. From there, you can take a bus to the Snow Monkey Park. Convenience store, bars and restaurants are all walking distance too. If you need to do laundry, be aware that you have to start it before 8pm (might be good to know if you're traveling around and didn't have time to do it before).

The guest house is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. There’s simply no words good enough to describe a little hidden gem like Raicho. Everything was perfect here. All the staffs speak perfect English and they would drive you from the bus station or to the dinner place whenever they are available. In Winter they are the only party that operates kamikochi tours which on a sunny day is a once in a life time experience. The outdoor onsen is amazing in the snow (dont get scared off from the cold). The fireplace is beyond amazing and all the people staying there are friendly, dormitory are surprisingly quiet at night and the beds are so comfy and warm. It almost felt like we were in Switzerland or something. Ten of of ten experience.

Located in Karuizawa, Kyukaruizawa Kikyo, Curio Collection by Hilton is situated a 6-minute walk from Kyu Karuizawa Ginza Dori shopping street. Complimentary shuttle service is available to/from JR Karuizawa Station, 1.2 km from the property. Location is superb. The shuttle was really helpful. The service is impeccable. Breakfast was amazing.

The lodge offers a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries, a hairdryer and bidet. For added convenience, the property can provide towels and bed linen for an extra charge. The hosts are kind and thoughtful and gave us very good advice for dinner locally and for our next destination. Best of all, the breakfast was delicious and kept us going all day. Our room was small, but we knew that when we booked so we were not bothered by that in any way. Aovely way to break up the trip from Tokyo to Kamikochi if you have a car and it is worth a visit just for the sake of being there.

Opened in August 2012, B&B Hotel Hyochoan offers simple Western-style accommodations. Free in-room WiFi is available and guests can enjoy bird watching from the property’s terrace. JR Karuizawa Station is a 15-minute drive away. The place is very good and the owners are so king and nice!

Oshi Ryokan is located in Nagano, 20 km from Zenkoji Temple, 22 km from Nagano Station, as well as 32 km from Suzaka City Zoo. This ryokan provides free private parking, luggage storage space and free WiFi. The ryokan features family rooms. The ryokan is over 200 years old, charming, and cozy. The dinner and breakfast were the best food I had in Japan. The host and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. I wish I could have stayed longer than just one night. I will definitely stay again in the future

At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. A free shuttle is available from Yudanaka Train Station, which is a 5-minute drive away. Great place as advertised with family service. The breakfast is excellent. Quiet. Bus stop next to the accommodation: quite convenient to reach Shiga Kogen ski slopes. We hope to come back again!

Located in the Shibu hot-spring district, guests can enjoy indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths at Suminoyu. Massages can be requested and a footbath is also available for extra relaxation. A free shuttle is offered from Yudanaka Train Station, which is a 10-minute drive away. Incredible stay, the food was amazing and the staff so helpful. They have a shuttle to the monkey park and even brought out bags to the station for us. Cannot recommend this more for a fabulous Ryokan experience.

Hot-spring baths are featured. Free WiFi is available throughout the property and free pick-up service from Yudanaka Station is provided. Location, amazing owners, gorgeous onsen, spacious traditional rooms, spotless, dinner was absolutely delightful.
