We had an exceptional stay at Morgadio da Calcada. Daniela was welcoming and her communication leading up to our stay was excellent. The property is a true gem. Beautifully restored buildings make for one of kind guest rooms. Much thought and consideration has been put into the design and details of the rooms and property making for an excellent guest experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the 4 course dinner with wine pairing. Manuel, the owner, and the chef explained the food and wine pairing choices throughout. A wonderful experience dining outdoors as the sun set over the vineyards. Breakfast was fantastic with fresh eggs prepared to your liking. The drive to the property from Pinhão was the most scenic portion of our drive through the Douro Valley. Thank you to the whole team for a wonderful birthday experience.

As a cultural landscape, the Douro Valley is a memorable place; my experience has been overwhelming. The hotel is simply exceptional; the house has been carefully designed, maintaining its essence; there are no pretensions. I'm glad there are no televisions in the bedrooms; the decision enhances the value of being there. I also want to thank everyone for their generosity and the quality of their service, especially Paulo and Daniel.

The LBV house hotel is spacious, clean, quiet and has a beautiful view of the surrounding area, especially from the pool area. The bed was comfortable and air conditioning was strong to provide immediate relief from the August heat. The staff were so kind and friendly and made us feel right at home. We could walk about 15 minutes to a nice dinner place and our tour of Quinta Bomfin. At night we felt less comfortable walking back since it was very dark, but otherwise everything was perfect!

The location in a mountain village with views over Douro valley is amazing. We arrived by train to Pinhão station and took a taxi to the hotel. It’s 15 minutes drive with awesome views and it costs around 12€. You should definitely take the dinner prepared by the owner himself, it worths a gourmet restaurant’s menu with wine pairing. Even if it is not said, actually it includes the experience of tasting different kinds of wine from their own vineyard. As we informed Senhor Miguel earlier, the dinner menu was adapted to my parents’ alimentary restrictions. The hotel itself is in a renovated mansion like historical building, so full of charm. We will definitely come back and we will definitely order their great red wine that we can’t forget!
