Iain and Jack were the absolute stars of One Drake Road, and everything was extraordinary, so that’s saying a lot. They are jovial and warm, welcoming and familiar and they gave us the best advice for every facet of our stay. They are the Devon and Cornwall tour guides that we didn’t expect, but certainly needed and we are SO grateful. Every time we would leave or arrive, the boys would pop their heads out of the front door to make sure we were sorted. This is the kind of service you could only expect from the best 5 star hotels. The property was also INCREDIBLE. We didn’t want to leave. It was clean and comfortable and homely, the boys have done an exceptional job on the design. It feels like home, but better decorated. The toiletries were out of this world. I didn’t need to wash my hair, but I did, because smelling like geranium felt like an opportunity I shouldn’t miss out on. We cannot wait to come back. Staying at the Bedford Hotel in Tavistock was truly a special experience. The hotel retains all the charm of traditional English hospitality, with warm, elegant and beautifully kept interiors that immediately make you feel at home. With the Christmas decorations, the atmosphere becomes even more magical: it really feels like stepping back in time, into a Victorian postcard. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Tavistock, ideal for exploring the town on foot and enjoying the historic centre and Pannier Market. My room was comfortable, spotless and quiet (in my case, the room remained wonderfully silent despite a musical event taking place that evening), with very comfortable beds. The staff were consistently friendly, helpful and professional, always ready to assist with a smile. The breakfast was excellent too, with great attention to traditional English fare. A hotel I would highly recommend to anyone looking for charm, peace and an authentic atmosphere. During the Christmas period, it truly feels like a little gem.

The room was clean good sized so I could work from the table. I have stayed at a lot of places but this one is my favourite.
