Luxury with some New York personality

    • Grand Chelsea

Of course, not cheap. Lobby was a little cramped and a little worse for wear, but only a little and not at all indicative of the state of the room, which was perfect.

Old New York, boutique-ish luxury. Staff very friendly and helpful, room was clean and luxurious - but with some personality/character, great bath and shower, the cafe and the bar were great, no hiccups, no headaches, no hassles.

The Chelsea more than lived up to its reputation. Every aspect of the restoration has been beautifully done to create a luxury hotel with lots of its original character.

From arrival to departure it was a wonderful stay. Warm welcome with excellent service throughout from concierge and check-in desk to bar staff and cleaners. The bar itself was brilliantly elegant and chilled in equal measures. The room was incredible with so much space - a rare thing in big city centre hotels. The bed was bigger than some rooms I've stayed in at some other hotels. Perfect.

AC was set to 78 when we arrived. Took forever to cool down.

Never did get the doorman’s name or get a chance to tip him as the cabbie rushed us out. Tall white guy. Was so nice and funny. Made the trip for us.

that I couldn't stay longer. I truly have no gripes or issues with this hotel. A historic, lavish and inspiring hotel that I will come back to any chance I get to be in New York.

The iconic Hotel Chelsea lives up to the hype. You can't help but be inspired to live out your bohemian New York fantasies when you walk in the door and are handed a red-tasseled room key. The beds are luxuriously comfy with incredible pillows. The bathrooms are stunning. Even the closet wallpaper is dreamy. I've stayed in 3 types of rooms now at the Chelsea and all are incredible. The Petite Chelsea is SMALL - this room is not meant for more than 1 person or someone with a ton of luggage. But the regular Chelsea (ask for a balcony or bathtub upgrade!) are a more than comfy size for 1-2 people. Turn-down service each night is a lovely welcome. The staff and level of service are impeccable. I also visited the spa for a treatment and would live on that rooftop spa if I could - excellent services and incredible atmosphere. There are always characters in the Lobby bar for people watching too.

A Beautiful historical hotel. If you’re going to stay in New York you need to include a hotel like this. You walk in and you feel the NYC vibe, you wake up and you know you’re in New York. Other Hotels you stay at could be anywhere in the world, bland, soulless, a dime a dozen. Not the Hotel Chelsea, it breathes New York City and you’ll go home with beautiful memories that will stay with you forever.

The Hotel Chelsea's historic role as an icon of NYC art and culture remains even after an upgrade and restoration. The Chelsea vibe is strong, still evoking the transformative art and music culture of the 1960s and earlier eras of New York history. The staff, restaurants, location, design, and decor (as well as comfort - always important in hotels!) work together beautifully. We also greatly appreciated the free room upgrade we received at check-in.
