How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Outside doesn’t have much appeal but when you walk into the room, it looked much better than you thought. It was going to very comfortable room. Very comfortable beds. Really enjoyed this hotel simple but perfect.

This was the second time we stayed here and both times we did not get our request for a lower floor room even though it was obvious there were open rooms on the ground floor. I have two hip replacements, am 77 and we have a dog so going upstairs several times during our stay and carrying our luggage and dog crate as well as up and down the stairs for the dog to do its business was very difficult. We requested a lower floor room both times but never got one either time 🤨.
The breakfast was good. All facilities were clean and comfortable.

Really didn't like having to cross a busy road to get back and forth to the lobby.
They supplied a bag-breakfast which we really liked because we could get it, heat it in the microwave in the lobby and then hit the road eating it on the way to the days activities. I think more hotels should do this!

Restaurant/bar was closed, so we were given a bagged breakfast in the morning. These things happen so not a real problem

It wasn't any fault of the establishment that the restaurant and bar was being remodeled , but would have been nice to have it available.

Breakfast was not good. I understand that the restaurant is closed, and that a bag is provided. But it was terrible quality: the worst apple juice I had in my life. And only a granola bar as a veggie option, as the yogurt contained gelatine, and the burger/bagel think was with egg and meat. It is also a casino. We were a bit puzzled at first (didn't check the pictures).
Receptionist was friendly and helpful. Hotel and rooms clean. The pool looked super inviting - but I didn't have my swimming trunks with me, so couldn't try it. Ely is the end of the world anyway, so location does not really matter...

We had a two night stay, the room was not cleaned for the second day. We asked two times for the trash to be emptied and coffee supplies to be refreshed.
The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable.

Just the breakfast
Bagged breakfast needed to be heated in microwave. We were unaware of this when we picked up our ‘to go’ bag as we checked out . Our breakfast sandwich was wasted as we could not heat it up on the road. Had we been made aware of the content of the breakfast bag we would have picked it up before checking out.

Room had a slight marijuana smell when we first came into it but dissipated quick, wish they had a real breakfast, didn’t even waste time on the Sack breakfast. Went down the road and got donuts
I read some complaints about the part being across the road, but I liked that best

Should change out their toilets.
The property was in a great location on our travel route. Had a great Mexican restaurant next door. They offered a very nice bag breakfast as well as complimentary coffee, water and cookies.

Apparently request wasn’t passed on to the motel from our booking agency. Toilet bowl too small and low.
Staff was able to give a deduction for inability to provide a ground floor room as requested. Good tv.
