Exceptional location. Felt safe, close to Union Square area where a lot of tours start from. Near cable car. Great front office staff who took time to assist and talk with visitors. Nice breakfast. All staff were nice. Room was spacious. A smaller hotel. Lots of places near by. The Orchard give you a list of possible eating places. I would go back. A really nice place.

The breakfast was so expensive, did not try it because of the price, would have been nice with a reasonably priced breakfast for guests staying at the hotel

Great staff, so kind and helpful from arrival to departure, the rooms were spacious and well equipped Everything had a luxury feeling about it, the manager greeted us with a bag with water and nice chocolates, and hemeven helped getting the luggage out of the car and up to our room, great location away from the sketchy parts of san francisco and a 5 minute walk to chinatown

The Orchard Hotel has the most comfy bed and pillows,, the best bed I have EVER slept in!! Location was superb! Very central and great for walking and exploring.

The only thing that could have made my stay a bit better were just nice to have a and very trivial things. I think American hotels use a lot of starch on their bedsheets so they crunch and crinkle in the night as you move and aren't very soft. But the temperature of the sheets was perfect. Another thing about American hotels in general is that the tubs are very shallow so you have to keep topping up the tub which isnt a complaint about the orchard but just something to be mindful of if you're on the larger or taller side and are used to UK sizes bath tubs.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and were able to accommodate my requests. The room was very spacious and peaceful away from the elevators. The decor was fairly modern but felt like home which I liked. The pillows were so comfy! I didn't eat at the resturant because I was out every day so can't comment on the food but the menu did look good when I saw it online. I loved that they had filtered water stations on each floor for us to refill water bottles to save on plastic. I absolutely loved that I could control the air conditioner myself without it being capped because I need it very cold. The tea and coffee selection was wonderful - almost as if they knew I drink decaf green tea! I was very pleasantly surprised with this. There was a little noise from neighbouring rooms at night but it was very minimal. It was a very peaceful stay overall. I will definitely be back next time I stay in San Francisco and will recommend this place to my friends.

Lack of soft drink machine and self service laundry. Also when toilet overflowed the staff person who came with plunger didn’t know what he was doing and failed to properly clean the floor with toilet water. I washed the floor with wet towel and dried it. Also before coming I spoke with someone on the premises who assured me the room windows opened but then i discovered they didn’t. I was told that they don’t open for safety reasons but I was still given misinformation.
