Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaA very relaxing stay with great amenities, breakfast was always creative, room was very accommodating, and the grounds just wanted you to keep walking and looking at what The Sands has to offer each day. Outdoor Thai massage is incredible, a must more than once.

Germanytl;dr Pristine beach is not private and without security control. Better priced restaurants and massages on the main road. Long version: For breakfast all are seated outside, no air conditioning. The hotel has a mobile app where you can order room service and receive warnings of jellyfish but unfortunately it didn't have the weekly evening magic show for kids and the advertisement appeared on the quiet side of the hotel, which we didn't attend regularly. The bathtub wasn't clean when we first entered the room but the room service came in briefly and cleaned. Outside the hotel, on the main road, a good selection of cheaper restaurants and massages.
tl;dr Huge kids club with supervision. Wonderful pools and small water Park. Good service. Long version: We enjoyed our stay at the Sands with a baby and a toddler on the "splash" and noisy side of the hotel. That side includes the small water Park, the big kids club, a restaurant with Pad Thai, pizza and stuff the kids can eat, with fairly reasonable prices but it closes at 18. The quiet side has a more prestigious restaurant, beach access and two pools: one for adults only and one for all. It has a lake with big fish with twice a day feeding time so little ones can help feed. The beach is about 5-10 minutes walking from the "splash" side. Breakfast buffet is also separated for families and adults by 2 different restaurants. We used the babysitting service for our baby. Someone from housekeeping came to the kids club (as per our request) and wonderfully played with our baby, while our toddler was fascinated by the vast variety of toys and entertained himself. The kids club staff is not interactive with the children (other than planned creative activities) and mostly watches the safety of the children. Parental presence is welcome. The hotel provides free water bottles and beach towels to your room. The baby got a wooden baby bed and our toddler used the extra bed/sofa which could be conveniently turned around so the back of the sofa became bed safety rails.

NetherlandsThe only thing I think it could be nicer is the middle lake; it has potential but it’s not very well taken care of specially when you compare with the rest which is all fantastic
The hotel is really well located with restaurants and supermarkets at walking distance; even though it’s a big hotel you don’t feel it too crowded and we never had problems in getting beds at the neach shore or table on the brekafast. The staff is very friendly and polite and I need to give a big shout out to Jimmy at the front desk tour bookings, if I could give him more rhan 5 stars I would do fore sire; fantastic person and allways willing to help, please tell him he made our stay extea special!!

Australia- Pools could be open a little later - Prices at the in house restaurants were a bit high: such as 60 baht for a bottle of water in the restaurant - free in your room. - Kids were allowed in the gym, should have an age limit.

IsraelThe water in the Jacuzzi jet in the pools a bit stinks from time to time. The beds were not comfortable to us. I woke up with a backache. One more thing - for some reason, the bellboy didn't come at the scheduled time the resort wrote us. 4:35am. We were not far, so we took our luggage by ourselves. Beside that - we loved the place.
Beautiful resort, Great service. We loved the washing machine station. Great idea. We loved the kid's club - great service! The food was very good. The shower was the best ever.

AustraliaThere are no usb points in our pool access junior suite. Floor in the shower bath area very slippery. Our breakfast in the floating restaurant was often cold ( eggs, bacon, and sausages often cold. Occasionally, we missed out on items of breakfast that were unavailable , scrambled eggs, bacon, etcetera. Lunch was always good. The pool water temperature was way too warm and could be 4 degrees cooler. More shade over pools would be nice. The grey tiles around our pool access were always too hot to touch. For me, I felt the price for 8 nights of $58000 thb was too expensive compared with other facilities. Overall, we did enjoy ourselves, thank you.
Pools were nice, lazy river, water slides and kiddies swim area was good. Room, shower, and toilet clean and tidy. Overall, it was good and a pleasant stay. Staff are very friendly and kind. Complimentary bottle water was very good.

Saudi ArabiaRoom cleaning was very average. On our second to the last day the cleaning staff did not arrive until after 4pm and only after I raised this concern with the front desk. Then the cleaning was only so-so, not enough towels provided, the floor wasn't well cleaned. The room are getting a little dated with some visible wear and tear.
Great for kids, both the kids pool area and the kids club. Food options at the restaurant for breakfast were plentiful and met all the needs of the family. We loved the overall vibe at the place. The front office staff were courteous and helpful.

AustraliaFor a five star establishment we expected a stocked minibar and more than just a few channel options on the tv. Also, we were told at check in that we had ground floor rooms - these have private pool access, so we got our hopes up, only to be led to the second floor rooms, so a little disappointed with that. The laundry could be more central - was 10 minutes walk for us. Perhaps you could provide detergent in the laundry for those who forget to bring or buy their own, it’s a long walk back to get some. Otherwise we were very happy and the above were only minor inconveniences, not enough to detract from the overall experience, which was very positive.
Breakfast was excellent, a decent offering of foods, catering for most tastes, good selection of western and Asian options. Well done for having two separate restaurants - one for families with kids and one for adults who want peace and quiet (that was us). Much appreciated! Also we chose not to have the towels and sheets changed every day, and we’re pleased to see that choice offered to us. The option to have softer or harder mattress and pillows was also appreciated. We loved the peace of the adult pool, though the other ones were fun too. Enjoyed the swim-up bars. The layout and design was good, though for such a large resort, sometimes it felt like we were so far away from where we were going, but it didn’t bother us as the walk was always pleasant.

AustraliaOne can always nit-pick but I won't as generally everything was satisfactory and all the important issues were as expected.
The 3 separate pools are a great idea: 1 for small children, the other for older children, teenagers and adults and the 3rd pool dedicated to adults only. Wonderful to have massages and manicure/pedicures on the premises. The staff is always polite, friendly and helpful and smiling. I was there for the Easter period and the children loved the Easter eggs hunt provided by the hotel (approx. 250 eggs). I celebrated my Birthday and the hotel surprised me with a yummy birthday cake and some artistically arranged towels and flowers. Many sincere thanks to The Sands for their kindness.

United KingdomMany people would reserve the pool side loungers by placing their towels and then going to the café or restaurant for food. This meant that some days we struggled to find a lounger. We had chosen a Seaside Junior Suite with sea view and balcony. Initially we were given a ground floor room by the busy main pool, it was noisy and we didn't like the location. We asked for a different room and were given a room which was very tired looking, it needed some repairs and re-paint where the walls were damaged etc.
A good location, with lots of shops and restaurants just a short walk away. The pools were nice, especially the beach front pool with the swim up bar. You must try the Tuna Niçoise Salad at the Coconut bar. We enjoyed the breakfast, with a good choice and the food was nice. The Concierge was very helpful, we booked a couple of great excursions with his help. We had massages at both the Spa and beach side, both were very good. The Seaside Junior Suite was a good size and had a nice view. Also, a nice size gym and additional leisure facilities. I would recommend taking a taxi to Busaba restaurant for the best Thai food, the pineapple rice dish was exceptional.

United KingdomThe resort is big, so it was very busy. Unfortunately, the brits were out with towels first thing every day. This annoys me, and I'm a brit. Not a reflection on the hotel but something to consider if you want something smaller.... look at the leaf on the sands or oceanside (same hotel group)
Brilliant facilities for children. But also the quieter pools were nice to relax. Rooms were nice and clean too. This hotel is in a great location, just a short walk to the main road where you will find lots of places to eat , drink and shop. Food is already cheap in Thailand but even cheaper to eat out in this area. Tip: if you tell local taxis you want to go back to the sands they charge a bit more! If you get dropped off at the nearest bar its less!

Austriawell given through the natural facts the beach is not so nice compared to others. but 400 thb and a 10 minute tuk tuk drive solve the problem there is coconut beach / dream beach / white sands beach available which are really great
It was a resort for families. Families got priority like children got with the floating market restaurant a better place for breakfast than adults which travel alone. All infrastructure is thought to serve children. enough pools where children are allowed. :-)
