Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe really enjoyed our stay at Mookies. It's not fancy but it's a great friendly place to be at. The garden setting of the bungalows gave it a tropical getaway vibe, though global warming did affect it a little (but that's really not the fault of the property). The owner was very accommodating with our various request to upgrade rooms even if it meant us moving around a little over our 6 nights. What we found a plus was that even though it was on the main road to the beach, it was set back sufficiently to not be able to hear the noise from the motorbikes or tuk tuks - though this light "traffic" was only an evening thing when those who stayed too far from Charlie's beach had to get transport there. The walk to the beach was only brief and it wasn't all that far to walk to the main town either if you wanted to - perhaps not at mid-day. We never used transport while on the island and managed to get everywhere on foot without killing ourselves. Personally, I would rather stay on the western side of the island and as pretty as the pictures are of Pearl beach, I think staying on the west side was much better due to its easy access to a good, sandy beach that had beach side stalls you could buy food and drinks from. Definitely a more happening beach. We stayed in both the air-conditioned and fan rooms at mookies. The fan room was fine at night (almost cold) but due to the heat wave, was on the warmer side during the day (but it was 40C outside). The beds were comfortable and we slept well. The bathroom could be a little better but we only used it for brief moments so it wasn't an issue. The restaurant served really good food and we had several meals there. The other accom options nearby were too close to the road and appeared to gather a lot of dust stirred up by traffic (not a sealed road and the drought made things worse). But what makes mookies a great place to stay is the hospitality you receive from the owner.

AustraliaThe bed was extremely unconfortable which sadly really impacted our stay.
Great location walking distance from Charlies (sunset) beach. Staff were a little bit absent but I think thats because it was low season. When they were around they were very friendly and helpful.

PolandPerfect place for relax. Bungalows are alocated in the garden so there are very quiet. Mookies is very close to Charlie Beach, perfect for swimming and sunsets. We changed our first bungalow for another with aircon (it was very hot in March), but the first one with bamboo walls was also very charming. The host was very helpfull - she helped us with transfer problem. We sincerely recommend Mookies Bungalows for a stay!

ThailandNot much to dislike. In terms of food in the restaurant, there is better food available on the island. But it's still well priced and "ok".
Good location, close to had farang. We had a more than decent aircon bungalow. The manager was great in helping to arrange our trip. Some misunderstandings around our trip to Mookies was handled very well.

MalaysiaNothing! We never saw inside the other rooms but we did stay in a room with air conditioning so make sure you look at the room requirements before selecting your preferred choice!
A brilliant place to spend a few days! It far exceeded our expectations and was excellent value for money (in comparison to other places of similar price in Thailand). We extended our stay for 3 nights we loved it so much. 5 minute drive from the town centre but a 5 minute walk from Charlie Beach which is the best beach on the island and where we spent most of our time.

TurkeyFood could be better to be honest. And the beer would be nicer if really cold.
Very clean, nicely furnished room with good working ac. Also enjoyed the balcony, overlooking the nice garden! The lady, who is running the place, was very helpful, nice and welcoming. Location was just great! (3 min. walk to a wonderful and calm beach, neighbouring a weedshop, in jungle atmosphere…) we would have loved to stay here longer.

NetherlandsA lovely place to stay, less than 5 minutes walk from beautiful Charlie Beach (Haad Farang, Sunset Beach). We stayed in a very well maintained and spotlessly clean stone AC bungalow. From our balcony we could enjoy the lush surrounding garden. In the morning it was wonderful to wake up to the soothing sound of birds. There were also some monkeys jumping around and we even spotted hornbills in the trees right in front of our room. The site is spacious and very well looked after. Good breakfasts are served in the nice open restaurant, where also delicious dinners can be prepared. Try the mouthwatering steamed fish with mango sauce! Mookies Bungalows is run by a very sympathetic team of (mainly) women. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. Bicycles and motorcycles are available for rent and of course excursions to the not-to-be-missed Emerald Cave are on offer, as well as excellent massages. Transport to your further destination can be easily arranged here too. We found Mookies Bungalows to be the perfect place to explore the relaxing island of Koh Mook and even stayed longer than we had originally planned. Definitely would choose to stay here again on a next visit!

CanadaFor my personal taste the beds were too hard and so were the pillows. BUT...this is quite typical of Thailand. Just something to be aware of...
Loved the peaceful location of this complex of bungalows. It was 5 minute walk to beautiful Charlie Beach. Getting to other areas of the island for a different beach experience was also quite easy either by walking, bike, or taxi (50 Bhat pp). The room itself was basic with everything one needs. Nothing fancy but just fine. Breakfast had several options. The staff were also all lovely and very helpful with everything including booking us tickets on the speedboat to get to Ko Muk. Loved our stay there and was sad to leave 😭

United KingdomThe room was a bit basic, no AC, but does the job. We would have appreciated some pegs in the bathroom as there was only one towel rail. The food is slightly pricey (compared to other places to eat on the island).
We had a brilliant stay at Mookies. It was in a great location, about 5 minutes walk from the best beach on the island, and out of the main town for peace and quiet. Wifi was good. They give you bottled water everyday. Breakfast was really nice (we recommend getting their pancakes), plus they spoil you with fresh fruit. However, the real icing on the cake for us was the amazing attentiveness of the staff. Wan, the lady basically running the show, is incredible! Always so friendly and going out of her way to say hello to us. She helped us organise a really complicated transfer, she had great recommendations for the island, and she helped us find someone to fix my partner's torn backpack.

EstoniaThe location of bungalows is very good - close to Koh Mook's best beach (Charlie Beach). Easy to walk down to the sea. The owner of the resort is a nice local lady who speaks very good English. So, it's possible to learn a lot from her about the island life (she explained us about the Koh Mook's garbage problem and seemed to be one of the few people trying to do something about it). She also gave us good advice and organized our transport to the next island. The resort has their own restaurant that grills fresh seafood every night and provides decent breakfast. Bungalows and premises were clean and well maintained.

Clean, amazing staff, very tasty food, what do you need more?! The area is peaceful and quite with easy and short access to a beach. This is bungalows, so you need to be prepared for some „friends” around you, the sound of cicadas at night or lizards appearing very rarely in bathroom.
