Horizon was exactly what I was hoping for - a peaceful spot, by the sea where we could relax, read and swim. The cabin was great, plenty of space, spotless, good shower, lovely balcony where we could sit for a sun downer. The staff and owners were amazing, really friendly and took great care of us! For example, we asked if they had a spare fan because we prefer not to sleep in air con for the whole night (the air con in the room was excellent though, especially after a hot day at the beach!). They didn’t have one but went to the mainland the next day to buy one for our room - we were blown away (pun partially intended!). The Thai food at the restaurant was genuinely excellent, though only available until 5 or 6pm. However, there was some great food nearby which was really authentic and very reasonably priced. The sea was beautiful, lovely and warm, clear and clean. I went snorkelling most days and there was some great sea life to spot including some nice coral not very far off the beach. The town is easily accessible, if you need to buy anything or if you want a change of scenery. All in all, this is an ideal place if you want to relax in peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended!

Not deal breakers for me, but worth knowing if you have mobility issues: the property is on a bit of a hill so if you're staying in one of the top rooms there's a few steps to climb, and the ones to my bungalow were a bit old. The onsite cafe closes before sunset so you'll need to walk a little way to other cafes for dinner. It's nice walk though :)

After I visited all the other beaches on the island I was even more happy I chose Horizon, as it's quieter and more private than most. I wasn't there for nightlife or fancy restaurants. I wanted quiet, swims, a bit of nature. I had the bungalow closest to the road (which is also the oldest) and at first I wanted to change to a newer one closer to the beach, but soon I realised that mine had a large balcony/table/more privacy. Staff are lovely. Organised a motorbike onsite; the island is small and very easy to get around. Beach directly at Horizon is very small but only a few steps to more sandy ones. Sunset viewing spot very close also a choice of various cafes at adjacent beaches both directions. Other reviews mention building work. (Views from rooms would have been a lot nicer before the new 2 story block went in . It's nearly finished, was not an issue at all when I was there though there's a bit of a rubble dump still.

This 17 room resort is going through some expansion. Nice and clean rooms that the staff keep spotless. Breakfast included which was adequate for our needs. Cool air, a fridge and kettle were huge pluses. Comfortable beds and decent linens. Restaurant open until 5pm. Restaurants are walking distance on both sides of Horizon. Property is sea front with rocks. Walk three steps down and you’ll be at the next door beach. Walk 5 minutes each way and you will find larger beaches. Lots of lounging chairs on property. Staff light dodo coils on your deck each evening to ward off mosquitoes. Staff are pleasant, friendly and hard working. The owner is a gem and clearly her staff like working for her.

There is some construction happening at the resort now and there was some noise, but it was very limited and didn't disturb us at all. I look forward to seeing it when the renovations are complete.

I highly recommend this place for a relaxing stay on Koh Samed. It's at the south of the island so further from the busy part of the island, but easily accessible by motorcycle or the local trucks that can easily be hired through the staff. The staff make this place extra special. They're very warm and welcoming and do everything they can to make your stay comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised with the breakfast which had enough western and Thai options. All of it was tasty and the eating area by the beach is very pleasant. The beach and swimming area in front of the resort is small but still very nice. Also, the two nearest beaches are easily accessible by foot. They both have restaurants and places to drink and relax. The bungalows are very comfortable and all have nice patios to relax on in the evenings. I can't recommend this place enough. It can't be beat for this price on the island.

I didn't find the hammering or drilling that bad. The beach by the hotel had big waves, but we went to other places to swim anyways.

We loved our stay at Horizon. At first we worried that the construction would be loud, as we read so in some reviews. But we spent most of our day exploring the island, so we didn't stay at the resort past the morning. The room was very clean and cozy and the beds were so comfortable, they also added their personal touch in the decor, which I appreciated. The buffet breakfast had both Western and Asian options, with fruit and juice, tea, or coffee. I really enjoyed my stay, and the resort manager and other staff were so friendly and helpful!

Nothing really, only that the rooms leak out noise. So you can't be too loud in here – even slightly louder speaking can be heard out.

This place is just amazing. You have a beautiful scenery around you with gorgeous nature and sea. The beach here is quiet and pretty private so you can expect pretty quiet and romantic stay here. Whole resort area is decorated cutely all around making it more cozy and relaxing. There are cute puppies next to the beach and few cats around here too. Resorts buffet menu is amazing – it has wide variety of different foods, like thai foods, bakeries, fruits, etc., to choose from and every day it changes slightly. You can even order coffee of your liking for free in the morning – it is great so I recommend! Resort's à la carte is also amazing and there are many different items to choose from. Resort is close to many good restaurants that are rather cheap. Rooms were nice and had everything needed. Rooms were decorated nicely, you get complementary snacks and water! I really liked the style, which made the stay more comforting. Rooms were kept really clean, tidy and fresh smelling. Staff here were the thing that really blew me away and made my stay here amazing. Everyone here is so down to earth and ready to help you with everything. Me and my partner were treated so nicely by the staff. One morning staff were waiting for me to get the breakfast buffet even though I were late by 30 mins. They allowed even me the same morning bring the breakfast to the room because my partner was sick. Staff here carried the foods to the room and even gave my partner medicine. Owners were so nice to talk to, it really seems like this resort is a passion project for the owners. P.S. hotel is not close to the pier but the island is small so can use bike or taxis easily. they are doing building work at the moment but where not a disruption.

Staff are so friendly and helpful! Breakfast buffet in the morning is good and changed each day. Food they serve during the day is also good and well priced. lots of places to sit in sun and shade, there is only a small beach section but can get into the water via some steps too. there’s are restaurants a 5minute walk away.

Some building work although no work happening when we were staying.. Newer cabins seemed less spacious so pleased we were not staying in them.

Quiet location. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast on beach. Comfortable cabins. Big fridges in room. Excellent Wi-Fi including on beach. We stayed in the older style wooden cabins which had generous shady verandahs.
