Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

HungaryBreakfast arrived too late every day. We left the place at 9 am every day, but breakfast arrived after 9 am. The building has a communal pool on the rooftop, but the water was filthy so we didn't use it. The backstreet is always full of scary and loud people at night, so we had to sleep with closed windows and avoid walking on that street.
The apartment is close to downtown (3 metro stations or 25 minutes walk). It's good that there are multiple grocery shops around, and many great restaurants. The apartments had 2 bathrooms which is convenient for 5-6 people.

United KingdomThe main issue was the air conditioning, none of the main A/C units worked and the stand alone temporary units that were present weren’t much use meaning the apartment was unbearably warm. I was travelling with a baby and there was no kettle which made it quite awkward making bottles with boiling water. The pool area was very run down. Broken slats of wood and very limited seating. There were 3 loungers there and then 3 seats and all 3 seats had holes where you would sit so were unusable.
Location of the property was excellent and it was spacious, clean and modern.

United KingdomI messaged the concierge early on after we arrived to ask if some maintenance could be carried out. Firstly, the air conditioning did not work, which meant on such a hot stuffy night that we had to have the windows open. It was extremely noisy, with shouting and loud music until 2am. I am a light sleeper, so lost many hours over the course of three nights. We had been provided with an electric fan, which at first did not work either, but to be honest it was inadequate even after it was fixed. Secondly, the shower door in the smaller bathroom would not shut, so huge amounts of water leaked all over the floor. There was not even a mop provided. I nearly went my full length as the marble tiles are so slippery. Thirdly, the dishwasher did not work, which was a disappointment. Lastly, there was a lack of basic equipment such as a tea towel, an oven glove ( we had to remove pizza trays from the oven at 200 degrees C without one) a kettle for tea, some lamps need replacing. Also the strong smell from the restaurant was unpleasant, not helped by lack of air con. During daylight hours the building work going on was an added issue, with loud banging and drilling directly below our apartment. Overall it was disappointing to have so many negatives as the reviews at the time of booking were pretty good. Looks like things have gone downhill in recent weeks as this is not the first to mention these issues.
This apartment was in an excellent location within easy walking distance of the main attractions of central Lisbon. We found it to be clean and well presented. It was a bonus to have the rooftop terrace and the pool.

FinlandNearby was a lot of the restaurants from which there came time to time an awkard smell, not the hotels fault, but good to understand if one wishes to keep windows open. We had also ordered breakfast, but nowhere was information about the fact that we got the breakfast in boxes, same content every day. If we had known about this we wouldn't have ordered breakfast at all.
The apartement was more than we expected, it's layout good and with a nice kitchen area. It was nice to have two separate bedrooms so that the teenagers could hang out by themselves. It is not in the immidiate city centre, but the square where the Hop-on-hop-off busses started was about 15min away.. There was good shops nearby and pharmacy if needed. Tram and buses were close to get.
