Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe hotel building is a bit dated with much-needed up grading particularly when it comes to the electrical system for one short circuit in a single room rendered the entire floor we were in without electricity in the bathroom during the night. Privacy is also another issue. The bedroom walls are very thin. One can easily hear neighboring phone conversations, for example.
Management and staff are very welcoming, accommodating and friendly. Cleanliness is fantastic. Breakfast is very good. Location is great

GermanyA kettle and a hairdryer in the hotel room would be important, as well as vegan options at the breakfast buffet. Unfortunately, the staff doesn't speak English, but we were still able to communicate somehow. Otherwise, a good hotel in a beautiful building with a good location.

Germany-The window couldn't be opened properly and it was really warm in the room. -Lack of noise insulation. Due to the open design of the hotel, we could hear the noises from the breakfast room all morning long when we still tried to sleep.
-Lovely staff. -Great location, no traffic near the hotel. -Good breakfast service. -Great value for money.

IrelandWould have liked non-instant coffee or a kettle in the room. But these are small things. The staff are hard working locals.providing a clean and safe experience. Room is roomy, interior of hotel has nice places to sit which can be important during winter or spring storms. I would have liked better curtains to shut out the lights at night.
Kind staff, very central location

The hotel itself is beautiful. It's built using part of the old city wall, with very good design. The breakfast is really good and the personal is very friendly.

CanadaThere wasn't anything to not like - no complaints. We found a parking spot directly outside the hotel, but with only on-street parking, that might sometimes be an issue.
Hotel Santos is an older, family-run hotel with a quirky layout - parts of the town's old medieval wall runs through the centre of the building. The location is great, easy walking distance to sites in town. The room was clean and comfortable, if a bit dated - but that added character. The staff were extremely helpful, pointing us in the direction of restaurants and places to buy wine.

CanadaThe room was very small. Compared to the other places we've stayed for the same money this was a bit lacking.
Location was great. Right in the heart of the old town but it's still a quiet area. Building had an elevator which was a bonus.

Beautiful place, a bit outdated but in the case with this hotel it adds up to the charm. Important that it was very warm and had central heating in winter.

Location-wise the hotel is 2 minute walk away from the cathedral. Breakfast was included and it's buffet style continental of quite decent quality. The room is a little dated yet very clean, which is all we care.

United KingdomA quirky hotel with split level communal areas that intertwine a ruined stone building. Great location in the historic town. Our room was very basic and slightly jaded, but that seemed to add to the overall ambiance. Despite being on the first floor we had a superb view of the sunrise across the surrounding countryside. We found it easy to park for free in the street just below the hotel.

United KingdomRoom was rather small and the double bed was small. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
This family run hotel seemed rather "quirky" at first but architecturally it was a master piece. To convert a building into this splendid hotel was obviously quite a feat. The quality and the quantity of the breakfast was vast and served by the lady owner, who just wanted you to have more and more.
