How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Couple of suggestions for consideration: No Non- Slip Bath Mat on the bathtub , which is very useful to prevent falls beacause when you use soap, the bathtub becomes very slippery (health and safety-as a Nurse I know this is very important); Window to the outside in the indoor pool could do with a good clean, the only part of the hotel which needed attention, all other areas were spotless; Basic Spa, could do with a hot tub at least;
Great facilities, decoration and full of history! Great gardens and surrounded areas. Nice, polite and attentive staff. Super comfy beds, large TV. Good towels, robe and slippers provided. Very clean rooms and the facilities in general. Very good breakfast. Fast check in and check out. Use of spa included in the rate of the room; Secure entrance and free parking.

We liked everything about the property. The staff was amazing. The food, incredible. The spa was very relaxing and inviting. Best message I’ve ever had. Remember to bring your swimsuit. The property has an indoor and outdoor pool and beautiful grounds. The staff was always attentive and helpful.

Nothing, it was superb
The Hotel was one of a kind with 32 acres of beautiful gardens a short walk into the Center of Coimbra. We loved the history of the building and gardens. The new wing where we stayed was close to the spa and indoor pool. The outdoor pool is amazing and would be great for a hot day. This venue would be fabulous for a wedding with all the facilities it offers.

I loved everything.
The place is filled with history and memories of a love story. Many options of rooms from more classical and ancient to more modern and contemporary. Amazing grounds ideal to disconnect from the world and enjoy the nature. The restaurant is superb. I loved the welcoming drinks and pastries. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Quinta das Lagrimas is a hotel bursting with charm and character. There is much to explore, see and do. The library and church are a "must see", as are the gardens. The location and views from the grounds are very good. The staff were fantastic, helpful and genuinely enthusiastic about the hotel and it's fascinating history. We enjoyed a excellent meal in the lovely and friendly restaurant with many extras and taster dishes added in by the staff.

One of the best hotel I visited, so far. The whole property is incredible, the staff so nice and helpful. The dinner in their Restaurant Arcades is amazing and you have to try it!

Unable to use pool as out of season. It looks fantastic!
The grounds are beautiful, golf was tempting but ran out of time. The restaurant was fantastic with many options. Great wine pairing with tasting menus. Generous portion sizes!

Not a complaint but it is a moderate walk from amenities.
