How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The shower wasn't the greatest and the water didn't get very hot. But not a dealbreaker at all.
Good location, while not on the sea it is close to the sea and has good parking. The hotel is very cute and nice, the staff are excellent. Breakfast was really good. When you have a car, it is a good choice of location as an alternative to Ponta Delgada which can be difficult to navigate in a car and gets booked up quickly.

Well- breakfast eas okay, but no chages in 8 days...and the small sausages were just terrible. This is not sabout the hotel: the naise level of stormy sea was really awakening.
Location was super, no crowds, parking in the courtyard. Polite staff, always clean, reaonable breakfast. Good price level. Quiet in general.

I had an excellent stay at Hotel Arcanjo. The hotel as a fairly good location to explore the different landmarks of São Miguel. The room was spacious, and clean with a nice ocean view. The staff was nice and welcoming.

The room was very spacious, comfortable and cosy. The bed was huge! The breakfast had a good offer, it was surprisingly complete. In over all, it is a spotless place with great employees.

Everything!!! Amazing place with super friendly staff. Big car parking spot behind the building in their own back yard. Very clean and spacious rooms with a balcony. Nice bathroom. Comfy bed. Good breakfast with a big choice for a few Euro. Stay here!

Morning coffee and type of croissants could have been better.
Nice friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable beds and very clean rooms/hotel overall. Good breakfast. Nice view with fresh air, could see the water from our 3rd floor rooms. Walkway just beyond the hotel as well as entry to the water. Beach towels were provided for a trip to the hot spring pool. Nice little bar area for coffee, water or a drink. Private, free parking. Great value for the money!

Ocassional issues with water pressure in the shower and the room was kind of hard to ventilate (as the aircon was mostly set to heating at this time of the year, it kept the room quite moist). Nothing too bad though.
Very friendly staff, superb value for money. Good location in the centre of the island with great access to the main road in most directions.

The excellent price includes minimalistic continental sustenance. However, there is a locals' fish restaurant eastwards and a more tourist-oriented one southwards.
Clean, friendly and quiet. Excellent value in my opinion. Nice pedestrian beach road and volcano museum nearby.

When we went to shower all bathroom Got wet But that didnt brother us so much, because the room was cleaned every day.
Decent breakfast, comfortable, quiet, very friendly staff and good vibes. We will definetely book this hotel again if we return back to Sao Miguel. Thanks for everything!

Location, cleanings, coziness, view from the window, people working there.
The hotel feels very cozy and incredible, I enjoyed every single moment of staying there. The staff is outstandingly nice and welcoming, helping me to solve a few inconveniences I faced during my stay. I loved being there and I would not even consider staying anywhere else net time, I'll go straight to stay with them again :)

Had the most wonderful stay here - beautiful clean room, quick walk to the beach and restaurant. The staff were so kind and helpful and even helped me get a load of laundry done as I was in the middle of a much longer trip. Amazing little breakfast each morning. Short drive from the Ponta Delgada airport and the free parking was appreciated.

The pillows.
Location was great for us, near the highway for our travels. A short walk to the natural pool. The staff were absolutely lovely, the breakfast was good and fresh every day, constantly being replenished.

On my checkout day I left very early. Staff was considerate and provided me with a breakfast the evening before (yoghurt, butter was not placed in the fridge). Even a water kettle was included: however anything I could brew (coffee or tea) was missing. Nice thought anyway. Room on the first floor (corner of the building) was a bit loud at night.
Friendly staff. Place with good price-performance. Decent & clean rooms. Parking lot in the backyard was useful and each evening space was available.
