Let’s be clear: it isn’t a full facility hotel, so no bar or restaurant other than breakfast. Used by students and groups as a hostel so can be noisy. Wide range of rooms, so book with care and try to talk to them direct, so expectations are met. It is located high on the hill,so be prepared for that

Location with great views, spacious room with large balcony, tea and coffee maker, good bathroom, good breakfast on roof and roof terrace. Quiet location with those great views, but easy access to the university and town.

Nothing to report. I loved it all

I loved the decor of the whole place, the spacious room, with lots of natural light and a beautiful view. The breakfast selection, the presentation and attention to detail of the whole building.. Loved meeting Ema, Gabriela and Isabel. They were very kind and willing to help in any way they could. I only stayed for one night but walked away feeling that I had made 3 new friends. Their hospitality is amazing. I will be back for sure and absolutely recommend the Penedo da Saudade Hostel and Suites to anyone who values a very clean, beautiful and very well located place that feels like Home!

The room was a little on the small side but it was good for a couple night stay.

I had a pleasant stay at the hostel. The staff was exceptionally friendly and always ready to assist. The breakfast was quite satisfactory, and the location was conveniently within walking distance of the University.

Breakfast could be taken at rooftop which is fabulous but there were some bees so we could not sit outside. Of course property owner can not do anything about that.

Really welcoming and friendly team who go the extra mile for guests. Beautiful building - we had a lovely room with a cute balcony. Upstairs terrace with a brilliant view of Coimbra and the hills was a bonus. Would stay again!

The breakfast was functional rather than a cullinary experience but for the price was perfectly adequate.

The room was superb with great views from the balcony and rooftop terrace. Nice touch with rooftop terrace honesty bar. The location, whilst on the edge of town, was in a lovely quiet residential area and still easily walkable to most sites.

Great location, beautiful building with a lot of thoughtful touches like artwork. Isabel was super organized and pleasant. The breakfast spread was wonderful and the views from the terrace were incredible.

Since this is a refurbished mansion, you can hear the steps from the upper room. In our case, the neighbors where really noisy. This could interrupt your sleep if you are a light sleeper.

The whole hotel is themed based on the University of Coimbra’s long history. Also you can have a nice breakfast with a great view from the terrace. Finally, they offer you local porto wine during the check-in, great way to introduce you to the local gastronomy.

Very little to dislike - you need to be comfortable with a 20min walk to the old town in return for a lovely neighbourhood with a view and plenty of free parking. If you like sweet carbs for breakfast you’ll be happy - choice of fresh fruit and protein is limited.

The building is gorgeous, decor is stylish and a little bit quirky, view from terrace is amazing and staff are super helpful. A/c flawless and quiet. Honestly bar much appreciated.

Our room - Room was very small and little space because of the configuration. Our room was next to lobby/entrance door so could hear all comings and goings. Old unused door allowed light and noise in from lobby. Don't pick this room.

Roof top terrace with great views. Wonderful breakfast. Attentive and helpful staff. Well decorated with great attention to detail. Comfortable bed. Walking distance to restaurants and sites.
