How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Absolutely nothing.
This was the cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed in possibly because it was new. The staff was very helpful and the location was perfect. If coming in by train, it is right outside one end of the station with no noticeable train noise.

We liked the location, it was easy to walk everywhere. It was pretty quiet at night considering it was on a busy street. There is construction everywhere, but not on this street. We had breakfast, but honestly it was not worth $11 euros a piece. We did better then next morning at a cafe for $7 euros for both of us. The staff was great and got us to our parking spot.

Very clean, bed was extremely comfortable. When we arrived I was concerned there would be noise from the traffic but it was fine. They have a nice little rooftop bar and breakfast was nice! Parking lot was close by, and there was a little side street to unload our luggage.

The hotel is in a terrific location, close to all the sights and a wide variety of eateries. The staff was friendly and professional. Our room was spacious and the breakfast was excellent. We would happily stay there again.

The hotel has a very good cituation, next to the central station and 5 minutes away from any point of the center. The hotel was imaculately clean, the room are very comfortable. The hotel was freshely renovated. The staff was very friendly, kind, helpful. The breakfast was great, I liked the Nespresso machine.

Nothing. It was a wonderful experience.
The room was comfortable and well-appointed. The employee in the Sky Bar was exceptional, and he made us feel welcome and told us helpful info about the area, in addition to providing excellent food and wine selections.

Nothing comes to mind.
We stayed here for two nights as part of an extended trip around Portugal. This hotel is very close to the train station and in an area where there are a lot of walkable and interesting streets. Some reveiwers expressed concern about this location, but had no problems with it. From this location, visiting the university and other attractions is easy. The staff were extremely pleasant. The breakfast was pretty typical and there is a very nice roof-top bar to be enjoyed in the afternoon. Everything was clean and comfortable.

We had difficulty finding parking at first for the hotel. They did recommend a large parking lot a couple of blocks away. It only cost around 15 euros for the night.P
Centrally located in the city. Easy to walk to shopping areas, restaurants and the university. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable.

Limited parking options. We were lucky to get 1 of 3 spots across the road from the hotel entrance. Busy corner; so if driving have a plan in mind.
We are +60 and USA for reference. Very nice place. Clean and surprisingly quiet given it was located on the corner of a busy street. Great value stay. Easy/short walk to many good restaurants and central area. Was downhill.from the university, so plan for that.

Parking at very busy times could be challenging.

No tea/ coffee making facilities in room. Paying extra for breakfast, considering cost of room, breakfast should be included.

For one night, room was perfectly fine but would opt for a larger room if staying longer. Parking spaces are very limited in this area.
This small hotel is conveniently located at bottom end of historic centre, so well situated for walks (up the hill to University and Botanical Gardens) or strolls along the river. Room was very compact but well-appointed. Included breakfast had a nice selection of options and very good coffee. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Very good value. Lots of choices for restos and cafes nearby.
