How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I thought the electronic pads that control everything was a bit annoying and glitchy. One time the lights I. The whole room turned off while I was using the bathroom. One other minor thing was the lack of handles in the bathroom, the nubs on the inside of the shower and bathroom door don’t give you a grip once the room gets humid.
Location, staff and breakfast. The staff went above and beyond in the care for guests and I truly felt well looked after.

my suite has a door on the wall to the adjacent one. Although the door's locked, it compromises the soundproofing. I can hear the sound in the other suite.
Great location, staff was nice, good breakfast til late in the morning. A nice bar downstairs.

No parking space, you should use the parkings of the city that cost 60€/day

Toiletries and teabags not replaced on the first morning. Street noise (at rear of hotel) Would have liked complimentary water each day for the price you are paying for the room.
Staff excellent - welcoming, helpful and friendly. Calm hotel ambience - ,the location is at the heart of everything. Only had continental breakfast but found this to be very good.

Hotel location was fantastic - close to Centraal Train Station and tram lines. Great when you come in on the Eurostar and you can just walk over to the hotel. Great breakfast and comfortable beds.

Room was clean, spacious and comfortable, but the bed was very hard as were the pillows.
The staff was excellent! So nice and very accommodating! Helped with luggage, made a dinner reservation for us and called a taxi for us as we departed.

For bar restaurant there was not enough room. One guest would sit in an area for 4, and we were a group of 5. We had to leave the hotel to find a place after returning from a tour. I have a cane, so walking after walking back to the hotel was a challenge.

Overly complicated setup with the lights and curtains in the room; pull out couch bed was terrible; concierge did not seem knowledgeable about restaurants and recommendations; expensive for what it was

The view from my room was less impressive than expected, overlooking an inner courtyard. Additionally, the central location, while convenient, did result in some street noise during the evenings. The breakfast area could get crowded, leading to occasional waits for a table.
I loved the prime location of the hotel, which made it incredibly convenient to explore Amsterdam. The room was comfortable and well-equipped, making it a relaxing retreat after a day of sightseeing. The breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choices to start the day right.
