Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumThe stairs are quite narrow and steep, which isn't ideal when having heavy/multiple luggages. This can be problematic due to the lack of an elevator. In our personal case, our electric lock of the door stopped fonctioning. They did fix the issue swiftly on a short term by moving us to another room since they couldn't manage to repair the lock in a short amount of time, so we were lucky we could change rooms.
The location was great because it was close to the station. The bathroom was very nice, with both a bath and a shower. The design of the building was very pleasant.

United StatesWith the understanding of the building being old, we were fully aware of the 3 flights of stairs. Not fun.
The location was perfect. Liked the interactive front desk. .

United StatesOur room was next to the front door which slammed with every use and went in til late at night and started early morning and caused the room the vibrate. The carpets could do with a cleaning. Basically the place needs some maintenance.
The location was great and check in was easy.

United KingdomThe rooms are matchbox quite literally. There was no wardrobe, no cupboard or shelf - had to keep stuff on non-existent floor space. The toilet was too tall for a short person and too close to the wall for a tall person to do business properly. The bathroom door handle was broken. The walls are too thin, lots of loud noises of simply doors opening/closing by neighbours
Location was excellent

TurkeyWe could not use the self-check-in experience due to the power outage at the hotel on the day of our stay. Since the situation was the same all day, we had problems checking in and communicating with the hotel team, and even had to wait at the outside door for a long time in the evening. However, the hotel team later refunded the amount we paid and provided us with a quality customer experience.
The location of the hotel is very central, you can reach the train station by walking for a maximum of 5 minutes. Even though it is a historical building, the rooms were very well renovated, the room was larger, cleaner and more stylish than we expected.

United KingdomThe shower cubicle, the lip to keep the water in was too short and allowed the bathroom to get wet and the main door could do with a slight sound proofing if that is at all possible.
The holographic interface was pretty cool, walking distance to everything.

GermanyNot really the hotel's fault, but there were homeless people taking drugs directly outside the hotel, which made us feel uncomfortable. The area did seem quite safe, however.
Check-in was simple and worked very efficiently. We asked to be moved to a room at the back of the hotel and this was immediately arranged for us. The room was quiet, spacious and comfortable. The location was very convenient for the station and for some good restaurants, situated on a nice canal.

United KingdomThe virtual reception is a bit odd and the absence of any reception area / lounge means it does not feel like a hotel. It is really a series of bedrooms in a building off a narrow hallway without anything else. That might be made clearer on the website. The common parts that do exist (hallway and stairs) need refurbishing to bring them to the standard of the rooms.
Very nice room, overlooking the canal. The bed and furnishings were very comfortable and well lit, and the room quiet at night. Nespresso machine in the room was helpful.

BelgiumAll was just great: comfy beds in a traditional house, large windows with canal view, clean room, modern shower, easy check-in/out, brilliant location. I read some negative reviews before our trip, and was worrying a bit, but it was lovely, amazing value for such price during the most beautiful season in NL.

United KingdomRoom had almost no furniture, no bedside table or regular table just drawer and bed. So that was a bit annoying. Bathtub seemed to have option for massager but buttons were broken
Check in process super quick and if something is wrong there is hologram where u can talk to the staff which is super cool! Place is right in the centre of the city so it’s not far to get anywhere u want to, however, that street was a bit dodgy with some weird people flowing by.

United KingdomWe couldn't work out how to use the heating easily and there were no instructions. However, we could easily have asked the reception for help with this. There wasn't really anything we didn't like, just difficulty in using appliances. For example we have never used a coffee machine and couldn't get the tv to work with Netflix. A simple guide in the room would have been helpful. However, these things did not detract from our stay.
The hotel was extremely well situated next to a canal and only 5 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central Rail Station. It looked exactly like the photo which made it easy to see on arrival. The room was wonderful and had everything we could want and more. It would have been lovely to have a kettle to make ourselves a cup of tea but there was a Nespresso coffee machine and pods for this were supplied. The bed was exceedingly comfortable and the sheets and duvet of a high quality and all very clean. The bathroom was wonderful, with a heated floor and there were toiletries for our use plus vanity sets, shower cap and a shaving box including a small razor and shaving gel. There was a deep bath as well as a shower with really great water pressure. The whole room was very special to walk into. The holographic reception was a whole new and interesting experience and check in was simple and explained well.

United KingdomSmall gripe, but it wasn't made clear that the bag drop company around the corner was free of charge to guests staying at The Sixteen. Plus the TV remote had no batteries so the TV did not work. We mentioned this to housekeeping.
Beautiful ensuite room in a Canal House. Decorated to a really hi spec and the bed was super comfy. Good central location near shops, bars and restaurants. Despite being so central the street was quiet and we slept really well.

GreeceWe could have used some space to store our luggage after we checked out. The accommodation does not offer such an option. However there is both a storage locker business nearby, and plenty of storage locker at Amsterdam Centraal in case you are leaving by train
The accommodation's location is excellent, just a short minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal and inside the city center. Located in front of a charming canal, it's also rather quiet considering that it's right next to the red-light district

United KingdomI wish there were cups and maybe even a kettle in the room. We had to steal paper cups from cafes in order to have a drink. Also wish there was somewhere we could drop off our bags.
The location was perfect. It was very tech savvy, the key for the room was in my phone which made it easy. Very clean facilities and Netflix on our tv was great. Wifi was great too. I like my room very room, and I find that most hotel rooms are quite cold or the heater works to a certain extent but not this one.
