Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaMake sure there is a working washing machine all the time or make sure it is fixed quickly when not working For someone coming from a far away land with limited clothes a laundry facility is very important. The same goes for a clothes dryer. Please improve the size and quality of the shower towels for hire. 2.50 euros each time for what is currently available: super small, , worn out shower towels is not good.
Room: clean, the curtains provided around each bed cubicle gave some semblance of personal privacy. Location: good location near a metro station and bus lines. Breakfast not provided Proximity to shops and supermarket to buy food: good

SpainThere is space under the bed to store your things but no lock (unless you bring one). If you're paranoid like me you will end up sleeping with your stuff by the pillow.
Very convenient for a one night stay. The general vibe is good, friendly and approachable. The lobby seems like a nice place to hang out: there are plenty of tables, books to borrow and places to charge your phone or laptop. The bed was simple and even a bit stiff but I had no trouble sleeping because I was knackered. I liked that each room had a theme.

I assumed being a hostel that it would be noisy and maybe a bit grubby, but I was so pleasantly surprised, the bathrooms and floors, and linen was all very clean. The ambiance was relaxed and peaceful and I was most surprised by the whole experience.

SwedenThe hostel space and rooms were super clean but my room had stinky shoes smell, apart from that no complains.
When I was finding my way to the hostel I had very average expectations from this place. But as soon as I entered the place it changed very quickly the lady at the reception treated me with a great big smile and she was so soft spoken and fun to talk to. I checked in, got the key. As a I walk to my room I continue to be amazed and think it's worth all the money I spent here. Super organized kitchen available for use fully equipped, tea and coffee free, living room with a great aesthetic and decor, a lot of good books and magazines to read. A separate room to get ready and feel like a model- literally make up/vanity room feels. There was a air dryer, straightener for use. A computer that can be used by the guests if needed. Clean and I mean clean hostel space and toilets.Toilets had ladies supplies (for FREE) The staff was super considerate, they had some issue with hand dryer in the toilet and when the guys came in to fix it- The staff came to me and asked me so politely if it was okay that they come in? I said I had some reservations as I am a hijabi and I don't have my scarf on. She made them wait, until I went to my room- awesome!! Also I loved how the bunk beds had their own curtains so no one gets disturbed by the lamp if you want to keep it turned on. The beds had separate sockets as well. The room itself was big and clean. The location is nice too, it has metro station very close. The center is not too far, there is everything you would need in the near vicinity. Desi food is also available along with grocery and food options.

NetherlandsSome stuff were broken and not working, but solved quickly by the super nice staff. You need to know in advance that you need a lock and your own towel. and that you wont sleep super long with all the girls going in and out of in the dortoirs and not the most confy bed but that hostel life !
The location is really good, not far from a big subway and train station that make its really easy. The fact that its a girls hostel gives a really good vibes and atmosphere. There is a nice place to do your make up, a big kitchen with everything you need, and a nice garden to stay. I felt really safe and good there! Staff is really nice. Happy for the pice I paid, Thank you!

United KingdomOn the weekend there isn't enough space to make food/eat. The under bed crate lockers were in the way of other people wanting to move around the room when you wanted to use them. Wish there were towels instead of hand driers in the bathroom because they're super loud!
Such a well thought out hostel. The beds were incredibly comfy and the whole hostel was very clean. The common area was cosy and there's lots of shops and amenities in the area. Super chill and peaceful vibes. Good amount of showers and toilets, never had to wait for one to become available. The "get ready" area just outside the common area is a great idea as it frees up the bathrooms.
