Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandThe room cleaning service could be improved and scrambled eggs should be made not from powder 😉
I was looking for a hotel in Amsterdam that would be relatively close to the center, with a comfortable, clean room, and at the same time relatively affordable. I chose Holiday Inn Express and I am satisfied. The hotel is located in a nice, quiet neighborhood. To be in the very center you need just a short walk or a minute's bike ride, and then a free ferry runs every few minutes in both directions ( 3 minutes to cross the water) This ferry transport has its own atmosphere. It is also close to the metro, about 700m, although we only used it when returning to the airport. Great location. The rooms are modern and clean. Comfortable bed. Breakfast is monotonous (basic - the same thing every day but plenty of it), you can generally eat enough. There are two nice markets right next to the hotel. Staff helpful. Wi-fi worked flawlessly. To sum up, it's a nice place to stay in the city, a real 3*. Nothing to complain about, but also nothing to really admire.

New ZealandThere was no tea or milk in the room. The stereo downstairs created a thumping that disturbed us on the 10th floor.
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The staff were very helpful.

AustraliaWould be good if more shelves or bench to put luggage I did notice the grout in the tiles in the lower have of the shower needed a good scrub, I did let staff at reception know when checking out. Was surprised wine glass etc were not removed from room when room daily clean. Used Plastic cups in bathroom were not replaced daily.
Breakfast was great, plenty of choice, including gluten free and choice of milks. Some staff were very unhelpful when asked to replace cutlery or plates. Other staff very helpful.

AustraliaStayed on 9th floor, one of two lifts didn’t work until the second one also stopped for two days!!! Not good for elderly or those carrying bags. Perhaps getting them fixed and serviced asap is a thought. Location is only fair re airport/outer cruise terminal. Area is a bit dodgy, graffiti and rubbish but didn’t get hassled or anything.
Modern, clean, great breakfast and friendly staff, short walk to supermarkets and wine store!!

Czech RepublicThe only thing, which we had small problem with, was the breakfast - there was quite lack of capacity, small dining room and during rush hour we were unable to even stand, nor go to the buffet for food and beverages. But the breakfast itself was tasteful and rich of choices.
We liked the rooms, we had everything what we needed. Also the staff was very helpful. The bus station is really close to the hotel, metro is a bit further and the farry is 1 km away. There is a supermarket almost next to the hotel.

United StatesThere were two towers. Each tower had two elevators. One of the ones in the tower we were assigned did not work our entire stay. The hotel staff did everything they could to accommodate. One morning, both elevators were stopped, and work was being done to remedy the problem. We were allowed to use the staff elevator, which helped. Unfortunately, the problem never was resolved.
Almost every aspect was great. The view from the windows was great. Anastasia was more than exceptional as our desk assistant.

SpainWe asked for an extra bed and when we arrived it was not arranged. Also we had to ask twice to have an extra set of towels for the third person. There was one lift not working the whole time we were there, so only one lift available for one of the towers with 14 floors. You can imagine how long it takes to go from/to your room when the lift is stopping at every floor picking up people and sometimes was full to even fit. The restaurant has the same menu of 3 plates everyday. Room has no proper closet.
Decoration is nice, employees are friendly, great views from upper floors Decently close to the metro and ferry to Amsterdam Central.
