Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomThe room was not clean and the shower was broken. I’m pretty sure they had bed bugs as my partner and I were covered in bites after our stay. The floors were dirty and the bed linen had stains on it. You also had to climb many stairs to get to your room which we didn’t really mind.

First thing happened is that our room was changed for some reason and the one we got smelled like someone soaked one of the beds in sweat. The smell was so bad we avoided the room as much as possible. The bathroom smelled like a sewer and there was hair in the drawers. This hotel gave me a rush on my skin. We asked if we could change the room but they were fully booked and we got stuck with this room. Best thing was that we only had to spend one night there.
The location is great, its close to lots of interesting places and is a 15 minutes walk to the central station. It was rather cheap compared to other places and the beds where comfortable

AustraliaI had asked for a quiet room with twin beds. The room faced the main road so lots of noise from trams, traffic and people. Double bed only available. Room on the basic side with tea/coffee facilities in shared area.
We flew from Sydney to Amsterdam and arrived at the hotel around 8.30am. We asked to have a room earlier than 3pm check in and the staff let us have one by 1pm. Very tired from flight and awake 29hours.

United KingdomWas not aware of the houses by canals - 3 flights of very steep, narrow stairs a bit much for women in their 60s! Aware the room had no view, but not aware it was basically a cupboard with no window or much air. In this hot weather, the room was stifling despite the fans which didn’t work well. The shower room needs re-thinking - very small and water goes everywhere. Has already damaged the door frame, door and flooring.
Location excellent for where we wanted to go. Kept very clean, cleaner was lovely, friendly and helpful. Bed comfortable.

New Zealanddon’t have lift and a lot of stairs (many stairs), reception is in different place the rooms, so you need to go up and go down for the stairs… the tv and hair dryer doesn’t works… don’t have fan or A/C in the room and was so hot (32 degrees), the window wasn’t enough to be fresh and the street is so noise… very expensive place to be in a bad place! better spend same value or more but for a better place!
