Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing about the property per se, it is far away from everything. As a result, meal offerings are limited.
It is beautiful, calm, quiet.

New ZealandWifi. There was none, but that was beyond their control. There was no mention of lunch, but dinner and breakfast were catered. It needed more Eco to be an eco-lodge.
It was quiet and calm, in a beautiful spot. We were worried about the roads but from Noumea to Yate they were great, and not too bad from Yate to Kanua Tera, a few potholes and a couple of concrete fords which might be dodgy after heavy rain.

New ZealandThere are no wine glasses in the rooms Wi-Fi is only available in the central building, and apparently in the nearest bungalows.
Very nice and quiet place. The sea is a dozen meters from the bungalow. A sandy beach where it is convenient to swim. Friendly staff. Well-cooked food, although the choice is limited to a few options.

New ZealandIt was difficult to find the hotel, no signage from the road, or even the turning to the hotel. Lighting was very poor in the room and it would have been nice to have small things, like glasses, milk for tea and coffee. Things the hotel have no chance of fixing are the roads, the pot holes are so so bad, takes so long to get anywhere trying to avoid them.....
The hotel was beautiful, our room was right on the water, laying listening to the see lapping on the beach meters from our room was amazing, Staff really friendly, we didn't speak French but they all tried so hard to help. Peaceful, quiet and beautiful.

AustraliaWell, we didn't actually dislike it, but we arrived without any internet connection and Wifi at the property was nonexistent so be prepared for total disconnectedness. There were nice fish to see out snorkelling but unfortunately the nickel mine not far away seems to have bleached the coral. Still, beautiful serene waters and we highly recommend it!
The quiet & scenic surrounds of this resort are fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were wonderful. You stay in a bure right on the water. Also, don't follow the google maps route from Noumea...take the inland road! And bring snacks with you as there is nothing at all around.

Solomon IslandsSome investment in renovating the chalets will be needed soon, particularly with the erosion of the beach - presumably from the storms earlier this year. But this wasn't something I didn't like about the hotel - it was something I didn't like about climate change.
This small friendly hotel consists of several individual chalets and is in a superb seafront (literally - the chalets are within 3 metres of the ocean) location at the very south of New Caledonia. The roads from Noumea, whether you travel via Prony or via Yate, are now easily navigated in a saloon car. The first time I visited ooh 20 years ago, when it was a campsite, it was a 4WD journey But it is still in the least populated coastal corner of New Caledonia and the ideal place if you want some quiet, and a comfortable base to explore New Caledonia's "Grand Sud". Or just wake up and gaze at the lagoon while you sip your morning coffee, before hopping onto a paddleboard. A turtle was hanging around when I went out yesterday, and three New Caledonian crows - reputedly the most intelligent bird in the world - briefly visited the tree next to where we were having breakfast the day before.

AustraliaThere is no shop nearby and the fridge is small. The menu is limited and the chefs and their dishes vary throughout the week. Ps. Must speak French.
The best paradise hideaway directly on the beach with amazing snorkelling. Great walking track to a small cascade and watering hole. Calm water. Plenty of turtles. Best sunsets. Amazing!

AustraliaKanua Tera is a hidden slice of paradise. If you’re looking for something quiet, cultural, stunningly picturesque and off the beaten track, it is the place to go. The staff are fantastic - helpful, polite, and go above and beyond for you. They don’t speak much English but did everything they could to communicate with us and we always managed with a little help from google translate! The site is stunning, right on the lagoon with a pontoon you can swim off, turtles swim right by! Walking track right off the bungalows. The bungalows are a little tired as per other reviews but they are beautifully clean and we actually loved that they weren’t luxe - we felt like we were in our own little oasis, the deck off the bungalow sits right in front of the lagoon and you can hear the waves lapping at night. We had a fridge, tea and coffee (BYO milk or I’m sure they’d give it to you if you asked… they gave us everything we asked for!). Meals were delicious (not a lot of variety but everything was so good). Fresh fruit and pastries at breakfast with coffee and drinks available all day. There are no supermarkets or anything nearby (it really is off the beaten track!) so we stopped at a supermarket in noumea and took snacks and some wine for between meals. Getting there is challenging - the rd through prony and on to port boise is narrow and full of pot holes (hard to navigate) so on the way back we drove through yate and it was much easier! If you read any of these reviews, read this - this place is the most beautiful place we have ever been and we cannot wait to visit again.

AustraliaThe wifi only works in the main building. The fan in the room was incredibly slow and bad. There is nothing to do at the resort. The breakfast is fine, but tiny and way overpriced. The toilet was separate from the sink, forcing people to walk through the bedroom to wash their hands.
