Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomUnfortunately we didn't get the room I had booked, but saw someone else in there but didn't complain as would of been pointless, as had already spent one night there. No bar, but a vending machine, which was double the price than a bar or supermarket. (however you can get your own in) shower leaked, tap moved around, hot water eventually. It needs a little TLC in places
It's a 500 Yr old town house, very quirky and well named, as there's twists and turns everywhere. It's clean, breakfast is fine, good choice for continental. Staff and owner were pleasant. Its a 10/15min walk into the main square at Tarxien, but uber taxis from there to Valletta, Birgu etc were under €9 depending on where your going. And good bus service from square.

MaltaFor those who are only traveling using the bus, the location is a bit isolated and will take some time to get in and out of for other tourist attractions, other than the Tarxien temples in the area. There are not too many places to dine out either since it is primarily residential only, so plan ahead. Still, this can also be an upside for couples or families looking for a quieter, more relaxing place to stay. Oddly there was no door or divider to the bathroom...is the only other thing I can mention. At least for room 2. Fine for couples but awkward otherwise.
The staff were friendly and even willing to provide information and sights to see around Malta. The charming room was kept clean all through our stay. The place has much more character than other local places to stay that have all become western amalgamations of each other. Leaving and returning is fairly easy with an electronic key system and no alloted times.

AustriaThe breakfast was a joke. We got less and less every day, until everything must’ve been out of stock. The bed was very uncomfortable.
It is located in a quiet area. The room an bathroom were big enough for the two of us.

GreeceI didn't like the bed , it was curved in the middle and everytime we moved it made a noise . Also we didn't have internet connection in our room.We stayed at room 8.We had to go out of the room in order to connect to the Wi-Fi.And finally communication was problematic, I did sent two emails to ask how we will enter the building, because nobody would be at the front desk the time of our arrival, and nobody responded. I had to call in order to find out about these information, I' d prefer to have these informations earlier via an email .
I really liked the interior design of the building and the room.I also liked the location of the guesthouse, it is near bus station and also near airport.

IrelandVery little light in the bathroom, shower cubicle was nearly completely dark and smelled musty. Black mould on corners of exposed beams in the bathroom. Wifi was flaky and slow. Kettle in the room but EU plug and no adaptor.
Location, interesting building, daily cleaning service. Reception was great. Very quiet except for guests but it's an old building so that is to be expected.

SloveniaZdravo concept of this B&B is lovely and so unique. It is kind of a fairytale. Comfy and spacious rooms with a nice bathroom and other common lounge room. It lacks some other basic stuff, in my opinion but overall YOU'LL GET SOME MAGICwith this one.

CroatiaWe had to buy adapter for electricity. It's not something expensive but it would be nice if the hotel prepared few of them for the guests. We didn't have a hairdryer although there should be one in the room. We got it last day of our stay. The shower was nice, but not functional especially the door. So there was plenty of water around after every shower.
Very good value for the money. Beautiful hotel.

AustraliaThe lack of self-serve access to the dining facilities after hours. E.g. cutlery, crockery, etc., to use with the existing 24/7 accessible food vending machine. Our host responded very quickly to our delimma at the time, however, was unable to assist due to it being after hours.
The surprise you received each time you turned a corner or stepped through a doorway in this most beautifully restored 300 year old building. This made you feel like you had stepped back in time. It was an excellent nostalgic stay with a touch of class and hospitable hosts. We highly recommend this guesthouse for young couples.

United KingdomThe difficulty to contact the owners by using the booking.com. app. Their automatic messages at booking was not update and worrying ( we booked the day before needing the room and we were messaged 72h notice are needed if you want to arrive after 7pm -we arrived at 8pm). I messaged several times on booking or whatsapp with not replying received. However, once you understand that they reply whatsapp phone calls, it is fine, even if they are not around. They are nice and helpful on the phone. I did not like the vending machine system. It was not refilled (no water) based on coins only and pricey too. The room could have a bit more generous stock than 1 nescafe per guest (day one) or 1 teabag (day 2). And a couple of bottles of water (even better for the environment a water fountain in common area). We did not have wifi or warm water on day 2.Overall, the stay was nice, but with a bit of more attention by the management it would have been even better than that.
Nice old building, beautifully restored. Our room had enough sunlight and also privacy. It was very quiet. only pleasant noise being the birds in the morning Neighbourhoods is good, not excessively touristic, with “real people” living there. Beautiful buildings all around and good bus connections. You can still easily walk to the 3 cities.

BelgiumNo warm water coming out of the douche, tried everything. Very noisy beds :-). The breakfast… Coming out of a vending machine, not very warm/human being. Typical for the capitalistic word we live in. So I went to the grocery store and made my own breakfast. Better no breakfast than coming out of a vending machine.
Friendly human being at the reception. Possibility to store the luggage before check-in. Characteristic and historical building. Nearby ‘Patakkus’ good restaurant. Nearby bus stop and Temples of Tarxien.
