Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South Koreathe rooms are very dated and small the hostel is quite a way up the hill/mountain so keep in mind that you will either need to walk up many steep hills and steps or take a taxi to get there the walls were very thin so I could hear a group talking and laughing until 12am and I could even hear a person across the hall snoring! bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper
self check in was easy! the bathroom was large and the shower had a glass panel to separate it from the toilet it’s about a 10-15 minute walk to the subway and lots of buses I liked the kitchen area downstairs and the free breakfast

South KoreaSeveral things: 1. Room is quite small for the money you pay 2. Air conditioner wouldn't adjust fan speed and looked like it could be cleaned 3. Shower stall had visible mold around some places 4. Bed/mattress was not real comfortable. Not bad but not real good. Breakfast could've provided fruit and hard-boiled eggs though I understood it was continental. They provided cereal, toast, jam, peanut butter, coffee, and cup noodle. Walls a little thin so I could hear noise from other room and hallway, but fortunately other guests were not too loud. Just when they had entered hallway and their room
You get what you pay for. Location is really good. Subway station is nearby within a 10 minute walk. Staff was really helpful to fix any problems. I didn't have hot water at first but was able to get it turned on.

India1. The "staff" was non-existent. No one was at the front desk when we arrived, no one was around for the entire duration of our stay. Even the numbers provided didn't work on Whatsapp. 2. The most uncomfortable room we've ever stayed in - dirty air con vents, rusted bathroom fittings, a bed that was essentially a sheet over a spring mattress, cobwebs. 3. Unresponsive staff. No one responded to my message for directions sent 24 hours before. (To be fair, messages were left for us at the reception with directions as to where to get our keys and who to contact. Problem was, this was the only way to speak to anyone managing the property! Weird!) 4. We had to scour the entire property to find a universal adapter simply because there was no one there. Truly one of the strangest, most inconvenient stays of our lives.
The location was very central. An easy walk to Myeongdong. The surrounding neighbourhood in the shadow of the N Seoul Tower was peaceful. That was about it.

ThailandNo service, no cleaning even once during 4 nights stay, no maintenance, if you get noisy neighbors you cannot sleep, dirty, run down place and hugely overpriced. Breakfast is a joke. If You want to come to Myeongdeong , just get hotel outside with easy connection by bus or metro.

United StatesThe hotel wasn’t clean and my room smelled. My room was full of mosquitos (I killed at least 10 before I went to bed); I woke up with bites and an infection in one arm. There was bed bugs, too. The staff was hiding away in a room downstairs and weren’t friendly, just wanted my money and give/take the key to my room. There was noise all night from other guest — I woke up multiples times due to misquotes and from guest dropping, or banging something, as well as talking. This occurred until 3am, then everyone wakes up at 6 am, so there is noise then, too. The walls are paper thin and the area is rough. I wanted to leave and stay somewhere else but nothing was available. My next day was rough because I had no sleep and an infection in my arm form a bite.
I had my own room

United KingdomThe room was smelly, damp, and dirty. The bathroom was cleaned with bleach, which stained my clothes. There was mold in the shower. The towels were damp and very smelly. Possibly not cleaned. The bed was definitely not cleaned, blood, hairs, dust on and in the sheets. No bedsheet as well. The walls are paper thin, you hear all the other rooms.
The location was alright, 5-10 walk (uphill) from one of the metro station exit. It was easy to check in. The breakfast was very limited, a few old cereals and maybe coffee.

United KingdomDid not sleep well as I could hear everyone through the walls. I've experienced much friendlier and caring staff on my travels so far and so was disappointed. Some areas were dirty, previous persons socks were under the bed.
Spacious shower and comfy bed.

JapanFirst of all, there was nobody at the reception and we needed to make a call - an international call for foreign mobile phone with unnecessary expensive cost. Nobody showed up in 20 minutes and we made another call. Finally I was told to go downstairs to knock on the door where working-holiday young lady woke up and opened the door to accept our arrival. This was waste of time and money. Secondly, I made reservation of 2 rooms which both of 2 rooms are supposed to have 2 beds, we were a group of 4 adults, according to the room photos posted on Booking.com as well as written description while the room we were presented was one with 2 beds as per the description on the ground level and another with bunk bed and the room was on the basement level with no window - we could not do anything but laugh by looking at the basement room. The basement room was not at the acceptable level and requested for the change. After several calls, we were offered with ground level room with 1 queen size bed and extra linen so that one person can sleep on the floor. We compromised with this solution, no other choices anyway. The room had mold grown here and there, towels were not completely dry, TV could not be controlled with the remote - battery was alive but no control for some reason, Wifi was not working as it was supposed to be. You need to be drunk to sleep in this room which we did. Breakfast offers only instant noodle soup, serial and toast - toast but no butter, only jam. We walked to nearby Seven Eleven to buy some decent breakfast. Every time we had questions and requests, we asked the working-holiday lady who made a call to the owner 'Mama' who never showed up. Unless you are looking for some budget accommodation for a few nights or even more to save money while you drink and sleep to ignore all the negatives in your room, you should not stay at this facility. I wish we knew all this priori to the visit so that we could have chosen other locations.
This facility is nicely located - only 7-8 minute walk from Myeong-dong metro station. They have kitchen that you can cook for yourself, which we did because of poor breakfast. These are the only positive side of this facility.

ChinaThe room smells very moldy and humid. Dark without any sunshine. It is not cheap when I pleased order. Not worth of value. Turning on A/C dehumidifiers can make it improved but not much. Water leaked at sink. No bath towels at room except you ask the staff.
1. Location at Myeongdong is a thumb up. It is very convenient to take subway or as a meeting point for a tour. 2. Heating pad is a plus to keep you warm. 3. Seoul milk taste good . Kitchen at basement is clean and thoughtful.

United StatesThe room had a very musty smell. Mold was growing on the ceiling of both the main room and bathroom. When my wife and I went to eat breakfast, there was mold growing on the bread that was provided. The walls were also thin, so we could hear the other tenants. The biggest problem was that the staff couldn't be reached by either the number provided at the entryway, or the number on their listing.
There wasn't much to like about this place, other than its location.
