How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The shower in the room was not good, you have to keep pushing a buttom to reliese the water every 10 seconds, so it was hard to take a shower. Facilities are small for the number of guests.
The room for 4 people is perfect to travel with friends. You can stay comfortable and for a good price. There's also a bathroom inside. Location also really good, close to the center.

The cupboards under the beds are just awful, extremely difficult to get things out without disturbing the neighbours

Bed low and not overly comfortable. We didn’t know they don’t supply towels, or linen. Except with extra charge. Some staff were not even enjoying their day. Very sad to see sour faces. We also weren’t told about the guest laundry.
We were very surprised by the concept of the hostel. We loved that it had a lift. We loved the supplied breakfast. The kitchen facilities were great.

There was a mistake made my staff that caused us to be overbooked so that was not good but it was sorted out quickly.
The location is great. It’s less than a 10 minute walk to everywhere you want to go - all the bars & restaurant are 5mins away. The bunks are basic but everything is clean & the beds are comfortable. Breakfast provided is cereal & toast but it’s great. We had an issue of our beds being double booked accidentally but the staff handled it brilliantly and we got moved immediately. They were really helpful and got the issue resolved quickly & continued to check in with us during our stay to make sure everything was alright.

Everything was great.
The bedrooms are comfy and clean. The staff is nice. There is a free breakfast and it was good. The location is perfect (centre of the city).

The room was big but the bed was small and cramped. I was on the top bunk and the ceiling sloped down right where my head was. Even at 5'4" it was too low for me to sit up properly.
Great location, great crew of people working here. After having a bad experience at the previous hostel in Dublin it was nice to have decent staff.

Internet is very slow probably due to large numbers of tourists. Nowhere to sit in dorm which was too crowded. People in dorm using phones until after midnight
Handy location, clean. Friendly staff. Useful left luggage facility.

Staff would always be around, friendly and helpful There was breakfast and opportunity to make your own meals. The rooms were quite comfortably and people would look out for each other. All in all a nice place to stay

The bed! But that's bunk beds for you! A curtain around them would've allowed for a little more privacy.
Staff were really nice, especially Rachel who went above and beyond to facilitate my needs.

Breakfast fine, some grain free options would be good for those with food intolerances. Location close to shops and city centre, and only short walk to pubs area. Railway station several blocks away to walk with many bags but not massive distance to get there and CBD very close. Staff gave exceptional service, friendly and welcoming - very happy!

Not a lot of bathrooms/toilets/showers available for the size of it's hostel.. A LOT of school groups, which took over the kitchen and made the kitchen space feel very busy and not very open for other travellers to sit around and enjoy breakfast. Also the locker underneath the bed was placed so stupidly. I had to jank the locker out and it was hard accessible even at that point. I couldn't really open it. There was plenty of space in the rest of the room to put those lockers instead, but they were stuck underneath the beds.
Location is great, as you could enter into the city quite easily. There is also plenty of kitchen space to put your own stuff and cook (if the groups didn't take over lol). Beds were comfortable and sturdy.

The hairdryer was plugged next to a bed in the room, so I couldn't dry my hair because everyone was asleep 😔
Really comfortable bed! Breakfast is included, even if it doesn't say it online. ++++
