This homestay is a little bit like what I imagine when I meditate. Quiet, peaceful and full of beauty. The best dive centre on site (Mantastic) who are super knowledgeable, with sparkling new equipment, speedy boat and great instructor/guides. Snorkelling spot a short walk from the homestay, friendly dogs trotting around and even friendlier people. Food was quite basic but tasty enough to survive the week. One afternoon we were even bought fresh coconuts after returning from our dive. Comfortable bed, a fan and the sound of the waves crashing underneath the bungalow. The family of this homestay were helpful when I needed something even though English is minimal, Yves from Mantastic was able to help translate. I felt very well looked after and cared for as a female solo traveller.

So here comes the other side. First of all the local host family should not be in any hospitality business. Papa Benni is a terrible host. Not speaking english is one thing. But you can alaways have some Kind of welcome gesture and smile. We felt like they didnt care if we are there or not and sometimes even as if we are a burden to them. Our cabin was not ready on Arrival. We also witness some disturbing animal abuse Especially by papa Benni. Others too. There are bunch of really nice and suprisingly friendly dogs, considering how they were treated. There were three very small puplies. Repeatedly they were kicked really hard. Pulled up by their ears and thrown across the air as if they were garbage. The screams of the puppies I will not forget. Whatching them lip after those evil attacks was heart breaking. Luckily one puppies was saved by a guest. The food was sometimes okay but many times... It was absolut disrespectul BAD. The low point was one morning when we went for breakfast to find only two plates with Biskvitli tort. One with green foodcolur and one without. This is not a recommadation to not go but not expect much from the local host family.

Great quiet location. Not busy like kri or arborek. At high tide you can snorkel out to reef drop to see sharks baracuda turtle and even a Manta. But need a Lot of luck. The beds were great. Nice Matratz and enough power sockets to charge everything at night when Generator runs. Also Toiletts even Just a bucket Toilette and Shower were both clean and well build. We liked that there are plenty lines to Hang cloths out in the sun for drying. Something so simple yet many places dont seem to care about these little conveniences. The food was sometimes good. It was extremely helpful to have an on site diveshop operated by eva and efe. Both of them were also very helpful with a Lot of the questions we had. They have a great boot and excellent diving gear. Great working with them. Without mantastic diveshop out stay would have hardly been as enjoyable. Hot water and drinking water was available all the time.

If Mantastic take over running the homestay I’ll go back. If not, I won’t.

The homestay is run down, poorly built, no thought or imagination involved, mosquito nets don’t fit, the houses are infested with rats and the village dogs are noisy. A little bit of TLC and imagination and not much money could make this homestay charming and comfortable. Hopefully Mantastic take over running the homestay.

The SCUBA diving and location and the food (catered by SCUBA Mantastic) was good.

All was really good, could not find a fault, Dama asked me if she could improve things, she is very looking forward to have guests have a remarkable stay.

The location is stunning. My home stay was very clean, equipped with a comfortable bed and mattress with mosquito net. I had also an hammock in my outside balcony facing the sea and a comfortable seat lounge and a fun running in the night. The bathroom and shower areas are basic as always in Raja Ampat but are kept really clean and tidy, there is also a night light switch that turns on when you walk towards the toilet in the night. The restaurant area is clean and you can have tea and coffee and water 24/7. Included in the price you have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dama, Max and Yean are really friendly and always available to help, I had a mosquito bite in another home stay with an allergic reaction and they took me to to the nearest hospital in the Island to have it properly checked and be given antibiotics and cortisone. The place is really quiet, you can enjoy the sea view, stunning sun set and moon light and stars. The food is freshly prepared with a variation of vegetables, tofu, fish, eggs sometimes and fresh fruit at every meal. Very good value for money and boat transport are in line with general prices applied in Raja Ampat. The diving centre is very well organised with professional divers and a great boat and equipment. I had 4 dives and it was stunning.
