How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The party every night outside of the dorm room, if you want to get some sleep, that's not the place.
The owner was nice, but the place is a bit rund down.

Some mattresses are already worn down, so it feels like sleeping in a hole. Soap wasn’t there when I stayed. Wi-Fi isn’t working well but it will suffice if you don’t need to work remotely. That’s about it, it’s a great hostel
The staff is great! Luke is such a great guy taking his time with everyone. The location is superb, close to popular locations, even the main roads on Bali, so you can easily navigate to further locations. Free dinner is offered and although very simple, it’s a beautiful addition in order to get to know people working or staying at the hostel. There are enough toilets and showers for everyone. Price doesn’t get any better. The beds are very private, socket and light in each one. Common area in- and outside.

My mattress was not ideal, but good enough. For that price, I didn't care, but maybe someone else would. The hostel is located quite far from the beach.
This hostel is great!! Luke is a wonderfull host, makes you feel at home immediately. The free dinner is delicious. Don't doubt booking your stay here, you won't regret it!

This hostel is fab and very social! It has a gorgeous roof terrace where people can hang out and has lovely views. The beds are comfy and have good privacy. Luc the owner clearly loves his job and has so much enthusiasm for guests and always makes sure everyone is having a good time! The hostel also offers a free dinner which is delicious and a great way to meet people! I will definitely be coming back here before my flight out of Bali! Great value for money, can't go wrong!

The mattress in one bed was really thin so you could feel the Wood underneath but it was Just one bed
Luke was the sweetest Host, we Partied with him in the evening after eating Dinner together. The rooms are quiet cozy and even the room with 20 beds was pretty chill. You can relax in the Hostel but also do a little Party on the rooftop If you want To. And they have the cutest puppy

Not the best location but no problem at all if you have a scooter.

Not the cleanest place I've ever stayed at plus the beds are basically just mattresses that feel like you'd sleep on the ground.
Owner and the included dinner are amazing! Enjoyed that a lot!

The boss does come in and out of the dorms as and when he pleases so a little invasive. Nothing happened just lack of privacy.
Both the beds and showers were very spacious. The owner has recently bought a puppy! Free dinner was delicious and a very social environment

Staying at Sunshot was great! The place is clean and functional, showers with hot water and privacy in the beds. The real highlight is Luke, who welcomes you and makes you feel at home. It was great to chat and share moments with him and the other guys in the hostel :)

Facilities did not look or feel the cleanest and the bathrooms and bedrooms had a bad smell. The bedroom smell was eventually replaced with the smell of harsh chemicals.
Very friendly staff and good location. Good environment for making friends. Family dinner was a nice way to meet people.
