Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

NetherlandsIt is a very nice and quiet place. It is not direcly next to the busy street what makes it nice and calm. The employees always have a smile on their face and are ready to help. They have a quick chat with you and give you recommendation for activities. The pool is very nice with a view over a small rivet that runs through the village.

United KingdomThe location is very close to Ubud but if we were to stay again we would probably stay closer to the main streets. It’s hard to walk about so getting transport was essential which often meant sitting in traffic for 30 minutes on way to a dinner reservation. We felt a lack of privacy as our balcony was very open and staff would come round twice daily to make up the room - they would tend to show up about 5pm when we were showering and getting ready for dinner.
We received a lovely welcome drink on arrival and the staff couldn’t do enough for you. They were very welcoming and are an asset to the hotel. The room itself was extremely comfy and had a great shower. It was generally quiet which made for a very relaxing stay. We ordered room service which was very well priced.

NetherlandsWe are great nature lovers and there are several cats roaming the hotel grounds. No problem at first, however... At least one of those cats seemed to have an unnatutal hatred towards our room (first one to the left) as he decided to poop on our doorstep two nights in a row and pee against our door. Not something you like to wake up to, especially given the fact that there are quite some roosters in the area. One of those roosters slept approximately 10-20 meters from our (unclosable with netting against musquitos) window and took his job of waking up the entire municipality of Ubud VERY seriously. This particlular rooster seemed to have a bit of a jetlag himself, forcing him to let out a lonesome cry at 2.15h the first night. After that he had the common decency to let us sleep until 4.30h for the remaining nights. All jokes aside, the hotel is great and the staff immediatly cleaned up the cat's 'accidents'. Would have definitely given the hotel 10/10 were it not for these inconveniences. Bring some ear plugs just in case and watch your step in the morning.
The staff was super friendly and the location is fantastic. We were a bit skeptic at first given the narrow street we were dropped off, but the beautiful buildings combined with lush green nature is just perfect. The pool is clean and it is nice that you can hear the soft sounds of the river flowing. Very diverse breakfast menu and don't forget to enjoy the afternoon coffee/tea.

United StatesIt is a bit away from the main attractions and walking in the neighborhood was a little tricky, especially trying to cross the streets.
We loved this place. It was so beautifully done - the infinity pool was gorgeous, the grounds were interesting with temples and other historic buildings. The staff couldn't have been nicer, so helpful with everything. The breakfasts were good and it was nice to be able to have a beer in the late afternoon. Our room was very comfortable. We also found an excellent restaurant called Ramu Kitchen a 10-minute walk away. Our dinner there was fantastic and there's not a lot places to walk to from this restaurant.

GermanyThe location is okay but you need a scooter or have to call a grab in order to get to the "main areas". I also walked once but it is quite a way in the heat :) I would have loved coconut yogurt or soy/ oat milk for breakfast as it is a bit harder to get a vegan breakfast option. And one other thing we would have loved is a gym, but there is one close by (you have to pay entrance there).
The staff is AMAZING. We planned to stay only a few nights and extended our stay as we were so happy about the hotel and the staff. The are super friendly and help you with everything. For the breakfast you can choose each evening out of 4 menus for the next day. Also suitable for vegetarian. We could also leave or luggage at the hotel when we did a trip to Mount Batur.

United KingdomThe breakfast could maybe have been a little better. The fruits and beverages were very nice, but the bread was not very nice at all (although perhaps I’m being a little harsh being French enjoying nice proper bread and being used to the fresh baked bread we had in Canggu).
The staff was incredibly kind, friendly and helpful! Not to mention the infinity pool and hotel was absolutely beautiful, surrounded by luxurious vegetation and stone decorations. The location of the hotel is good as it is close to the center (5/10min scooter ride) although a little far from the rice fields etc (30min). If I was to go back to Ubud in the future I would definitely come back to Merak Village as my friend and I did have a fantastic stay! A warm thank you to the staff once again for making us feel so welcomed during our stay :)
