Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomEverything was really nice, exactly as on the pictures. Especially loved the little touches they have done (towels folded nicely, mosquito repellent scoils) Highly recommend, we only booked for one night, then we stayed for another one. Very nice and quiet, and amazing price for a private pool villa.

AustraliaAircon worked well although the doors/roof had spots where air could get out and insects could get in. Would recommend mosquito repellent when staying here. Also some roads are very dark when riding around at night so bring torch with you :)
We loved having a private pool, very large and comfortable bed and nice outdoor bathroom. Staff were helpful organising bikes for us to hire and we appreciated having pool towels in addition to bath towels to use. The wifi was strong.

United KingdomNothing I love everything
This property is so lovely the photos on here don’t do it justice! I came and checked in for 1 night to test it out and ended up staying over a week! It’s a real gem of a find in Gili T, quieter side of the island so you don’t hear noise at night and your own private villa with pool! And the BEDS ARE SO COMFY! Akbar the manager is lovely and so helpful with everything! I’ve stayed in a few places in Gili T and this is by far my favourite and best value for the price I really am shocked it’s so cheap!

AustraliaBeautiful place, all made wood. Private swimming pool is little paradise in the middle of the island. You can access both sides of the island from there, port side or sunset spots. They provide bikes to rent and laundry if’s necessary. Very friendly and helpful staff. Totally worth!

AustraliaThe property was kind of far from everything, in the middle of the north part of the island, however this did have the advantage of being away from all the bar noise on Gili T. It’s a small island though so bring earplugs to avoid being awoken by the call to prayer :)
This is a gorgeous modern property. It is perfect for couples or a solo traveller who wants to treat themselves! Amazing little private pool and there is coffee and tea in the room as well. The bathroom is exposed to the outdoors but is still really nice and clean with a hot shower. You can rent a bike straight from the property for exploring the island. Akbar was a wonderful host who was very responsive to anything I needed!

United KingdomThe floor boards were a little unstable in the room which made walking awkward. Some people have mentioned that it’s out of the way, but it isn’t too much trouble to get around if you have a bike - which Akbar will organise for you. There’s nothing to dislike about Java Wood!
The bed is probably the most comfortable bed I’ll sleep on in my life. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom is small but well laid out and the semi outdoor shower is a treat during sunset. The private pool is a lovely addition. It’s well maintained and a nice way to cool off. It catches the afternoon sun so if you choose not to head out for the day you can still enjoy the weather from the villa. Akbar is a kind and hospitable owner. I was celebrating a birthday and upon entering the room I found balloons, banners, flowers and a lovely ‘happy birthday’ written in leaves on the bed. Nothing was too much trouble and we were always greeted with a smile.

United KingdomThe bathroom needs some kind of privacy screen as you can see each other on the toilet. Better fitting doors are needed as it’s only locked with a padlock & the mosquitoes get in easily.

AustraliaAn absolute gem that I totally, 100% recommend to anyone staying on Gili T. Fantastic value for the price and amazing service from Akbar. I thought I was booking a double room and instead I arrived to see a private villa with my own pool!!! Super spacious, beautiful rooms and bathrooms, very private, pool was amazing and very welcome. Also convenient location and easy to get anywhere by bicycle. Akbar helped me with all my requests, he is the best! Also quiet location away from the party and bars which was nice!

AustraliaPerhaps the only downside is that due to the natural material (wood) that the villas are made of, you could hear the neighbouring villa if they were the loud type (but honestly, this is the luck of the draw). The internal roads through the island are not exactly the best and can turn into pools when there is heavy rain. While this has nothing to do with the quality of the accom, you will need to cycle through them – it did make it a nice challenge though. I would still stay at Java Wood in spite of this.
The place was mid-way between the east and west of the island and more toward the north. Not by the sea but being in the middle meant easy access to either side of the island and to where all the good spots were. The island isn’t particularly large and so everywhere is a short bicycle ride away – a form of transport that you simply must have to help you get around. The best turtle spotting area was to the north-east of the island and hence very close to the accommodation. The best sunset spots were to the north-west of the island and again it was within easy access. What we really loved about the place, is the private plunge pool. If you aren’t training to be an Olympic swimmer, the pool was great for a morning dip and perfect to cool off from the afternoon heat. The room was very well cleaned each day; the bed was large and comfortable and there were sufficient TV channels to keep one occupied if it is raining outside. Meals could be ordered in but it was much better to head out to hunt down a good warung or restaurant. We stayed for 8 nights in mid-Feb 2023 at the tail end of the rainy season and our trip was in no way affected by the occasional short rain bursts. The surrounding area was super quiet with nothing but bird calls in the morning. We didn’t hear any roosters though we could hear the call to prayer in the distance if we were paying attention – note that there is no escaping this no matter where you stay. It’s a matter of how close or how far you are from a mosque. This was definitely one of our better stays on our extended travels and it had a great holiday vibe to it.

SwitzerlandThe doors don't close perfectly shut, so some cracks allow mosquitos to get in. If you decide to get breakfast, know that it is served at a different place about a 5min walk away.
