Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwedenAbsolutley not the hotel's fault, but there are quite some noises - Ubud is jungle area so you'll hear monkeys, birds and (not sure but guessing) frogs all night, and some neighbouring roosters in the early morning - bring earplugs. The place is a little bit off the road, we used Gojek for transportation and often had to explain how to reach the complex, but as such not an issue. we didn't want to stay in central Ubud nor on the main road, and were aware of the location when booking so it's not a complaint, just a heads up for future guests.
the staff was super friendly and helpful, response was quick when I emailed them ahead. We loved the design of the villa and the private pool, truly a little corner of paradise and our kids absolutely loved it. Bathrooms were great and hot water working fine, mosquito nets were working well as well as AC, really no complaints. Beautiful property and i would highly recommend it to anyone travelling in the area.

AustraliaDark rooms, not a lot of natural light. Far from any restaurant so you’ll need to hire scooter or get taxis. Dog nearby that doesn’t stop barking and insects and geckos were very loud at night. Need ear plugs to sleep.
There was AC and the staff were lovely.

AustraliaNot near anything! Says short walk to monkey forest but we walked 45 min and were not even close. No taxis available. Actually did finally manage to flag one down who refused to take us to Ubud because “busy traffic”. Only the mist basic shops within 1/2 hour walk.
Beautiful private villas in a quiet setting.

New ZealandThe curtains are light, bring an eye mask if you like darkness at night - the staff will also turn off some of the outdoor lights if you ask. Also, just incase you get noisy stompy neighbours in the villa nextdoor then some ear plugs would help 🙂
I loved everything about this accommodation! From the privacy, the cleanliness, the authenticness of the villa, the pool, the stunning bathroom and comfy beds. I liked the setting, 10-15 drive out of town set amongst the rice fields - not ideal for all travellers but I really enjoyed being able to leave the hustle of town. The staff were very friendly and helpful - I organised scooter hire and car transport through them.

AustraliaI felt a lack of privacy whilst being here. They came to clean the pool and left the pool doors wide open when they left so anyone could just walk into my villa. There was an option to order breakfast at the villa, I honestly wouldn't bother. They said it can take up to an hour as they have to order it externally, and it was stone cold by the time it arrived I chose not to even eat it.
The staff are so friendly and very helpful. It has a beautiful feel about it and the rooms are gorgeous! Great water pressure in the shower, comfortable bed and good wifi.

MalaysiaThe water heater couldn't function properly so we couldn't take a long bath with hot water. The water in the private pool seems not very clean and thus we didn't get into the water. Maybe the breakfast could be improved to be bigger portion. With the price we paid, we expected to have a better/ greater portion breakfast.
The location of the villa is quite remote, probably that's the reason of it being a villa - more privacy. The room is clean and comfy and the atmosphere is quiet and perfect for private stay. The staff at the reception is helpful and friendly.

AustraliaOur cabin was situated right next to a residential property, they had a rooster that would go off every morning from around 02:00am as well as a dog that continuously barked. On our final night I had to get the receptionist to come to our cabin to investigate a horrible noise from the neighbours. He described the noise as a 'black magic ritual' and it would be over soon. This lasted around 2 hours and sounded quite frightening as it was so close and we could hear everything from our cabin.
The cabin itself looked exactly like the photos, however the location was difficult to access. We couldn't walk around at night time due to stray dogs all around the property and no lighting leading up to the property. Its quite a walk onto the main street and a 15min taxi ride into town. The breakfast was made offsite and arrived stone cold every morning. I requested gluten free options and was served food containing gluten, perhaps the communication barrier was the cause for this miscommunication. We had to use google translate to communicate with most of the staff as they did not speak English.
